God the Commentator on my Thai Sat was annoying as **** ... gave us no credit ..

Lucas annoyed me at the end when he kept putting us under pressure lumping the ball forward willy nilly ...

Also Pennant compared to a player like Reira just did not stack up ....

Kudos to Sami, Babbs who got kicked to pieces and Xabi

      Maybe even a loss

Huge relief to have won that having rested a few key players. Torres cant come back soon enough though.

The knives were ready to come out on here i reckon, a few were starting to sharpen their claws

        Glad we got the result.

Im a bit nervous about Tottenham now though. That result would have given them a major confidence lift.

Anybody know what time MOTD is on?

The BBC website says 22.45 but all the listings have it down as 23.55?

Didn't look like creating that much to be fair, we had most of the possession and worked the wings well, but Kuyt up front on his own doesn't work. He sits too far back and doesn't have the turn of pace we needed on a couple of occassions.

I can only recall one worked chance (Benny's), all others were half chances from outside the box and that IMO was down to playing with an ineffective lone striker. If Diop hadn't done his superman impression it would've finished 0-0.

Still 3 points (imo it was the wrong formation though but we got away with it) and several key players should be fresher for Saturdays trip to WHL.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Exactly, lets bring Spurs back down to earth with a bump on Saturday
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.

Hopefully they'll have shot their load against the Arse tonight.

Also, the defending for a lot of the goals sounded comical. They won't have it so easy against our defence at the weekend.

Plus Xabi wil not take kindly to being outXabied by Bentley. Expect him to score from his own six yard box against Spurs.

I personally was not happy with that. We were average tonight and it could have easily been a draw. Pennant does not belong in a squad nevermind a first X1 of a team winning the league. Happy to get the 3points though and the weekends game will be some game.
Agger, Masch, Torres, Riera all back in and we will be a different team and Keane and Babel to come off the bench. Spurs are terrible at the back.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

Only watched the last 15 minutes but I think it is time for El Zhar to take his place on the bench or starting these games. I like Pennant but think he needs to be playing most matches to get the best out of him.
Sounds like Benayoun had a good game when he came on?

We were never in danger. If we had a more natural striker than Kuyt upfront we probably would have won more comfortably. Playing upfront on his own isn't Dirk's forte. He always works better alongside another front man. I was a bit disappointed we didn't see himself and Babel upfront together for a while. I wouldn't be too worried at all though. We'll have the big guns back for the weekend to shoot down Spurs.

Me too. I'm just starting to get nervous that we are not really putting together decent fluid attacking performances. Compared to how we were at the end of last year anyways :bitesnails:

A win without a lot of first teamers due to injuries, knocks they were carrying and plain old tiredness.

Can't speak highly enough of them. Last 5 minutes we were put under heavy pressure, but apart from that we dominated. We did struggle at times against a very big, powerful team, but we will not meet teams like that every week.

Would we have won this game last year? Maybe not. Would we have won this game last year without 4-5 first teamers? No. Shows the strength in depth in the squad.

And personally I thought it looked like a matter of time before we scored. Poor old Sami denied a goal by Diop punching it off his head, but I was more than happy for Stevie to step up and score.

Can't believe how much he has improved at penaltys, I always expect him to score now!
