I'm not his biggest fan but he maybe one of those players who's gonna take 4 or 5 years to develop. I don't think he was brought in to plug a gap in the side/squad immediately. Maybe Rafa sees his as a long term candidate for Gerrard (stop sniggering!!). He cost a few quid I know but that wasn't his fault. To say he's "one of the worst" is IMHO a bit OTT. Incidentally one thing about him has impressed me and that has been his efforts to learn the language. For a youngster who's only been here a relatively short time his English is outstanding. I'd stick with him TBH.

I'm afraid we cant wait that long for him to come good.

I think he has plenty of ability and has already shown glimpses this year that he’s more comfortable and growing in confidence. A bit like when Xabi was struggling for form last year, he wasted a lot of possession, but I was happy that he was still always looking the ball and always trying to make things happen. His moments of brilliance were overshadowed by his misplaced passes, and completely overlooked because people thought he was past it / found out, and like Xabi then, anytime Lucas plays decent or contributes well, it’s immediately forgotten because some people have already labelled him as ****.

We’ve shown some lovely passages of first touch passing football this year especially between Xabi, Stevie, Rieira and Nando, and I think Lucas easy has the ability and speed of thought to continue this trend when given the chance.

During the Spurs game, he also out muscled Zokora to win the ball and set up an attack showing signs again that he’s improving his strength.

It's way way to early to be saying stuff like that. IMO taking into account;
the players we have in central midfield, his age, the good things he's done so far (there have been a few!), how quickly he's picked up the language and the fact that Rafa seems to rate him, we should give him at least anothwe 2 seasons.

I know what you mean and my faith in him is wearing slightly thin, but I'm sure - in fact I know he's much better than what we've seen so far.
