Sorry lads, but I have to say this lad is one of the poorest players I have seen in a Liverpool shirt for some time. In my opinion he has never played a good game for us yet Rafa keeps playing him, whether its from the start or as a sub. He is no where near good enough for Liverpool. Surely there are better options? What do you think?

I think he is an excellent prospect and peoples continuing dislike of him baffles me. He needs to develop areas of his game but I see genuine class in many of the things he does. The only problem I see for him is trying to get past the likes of Mascher and Alonso into the team. I actually think he would balance either of those two better than they are balancing each other at the minute (although I expect them to improve if they play a few more games together in our new more attacking style).
I really don't get why people think he is bad. He isn't flashy but he picks good balls and uses possession effectively. Like Alonso the better the runs around him the better he will play. We need Torres back or Babel to up his game to get the best out of either of them."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I have to say I have been disappointed with him too. I was expecting a lot more. Maybe he just needs a good run in the team but I can't see that happening with the current midfield we have. He needs to show more determination and creativity when he features. He always seems to play the easy pass or just give it to Gerrard and let him take responsibility.
I think there is more to come from him. You don't win Brazilian player of the year and feature regularly in Brazilian squads if you are an average player. Maybe we should be questioning the coaching he is getting at the moment as he seems to be a lot more defensive than he was when he was playing in Brazil.Jellyfish are 97% water or something, so how much are they doing? Just give them another 3% and make them water. It's more useful

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Spot on with this, when he does come on he makes little or now difference. At least Benayoun will, even if he does lose possession at times.

Much more so, he played box to box for Gremio. It's well known that Rafa deliberately had him playing in a sitting / DM role for his first year to bed him in to our way of playing and the league in general. Apparently this year, Rafa is going to give him more opportunity to be the DM that gets forward, so hopefully we'll see more of what made him the player he was at Gremio.Originally posted by lucas View PostI have to say I have been disappointed with him too. He is definitely a good player, technically, he has good vision and although he looks lightweight and jumps out of the odd tackle he does win more than his fair share of possession.
The question that is still unanswered is can he perform at Premier League pace?
I think he's been a good gamble, he's definitely a class above those who are/were behind him in the pecking order e.g. Guthrie, Spearing, Plessis, etc
And people seem to forget a) he won us the Derby b) he had 5 assists and c) when we went on our great run last season, he played far more games than Xabi in that streak.
So he's definitely shown that he can do a job for the TEAM.The Crushing Machine MKII

I agree that he is a good player who can sometimes play that final ball. I'd just like to see him go from a player with potential to a quality player. I believe that he has got what it takes.Originally posted by El Jefecito View PostMuch more so, he played box to box for Gremio.
