Was not remotely excellent against Fulham

Hope he proves himself this evening.

So do I. I don't have an agenda against him. If he starts to build up an impressive run of form I'll be very pleased. It's not as if any of us want our own players to fail to reach the required standard.

They'll have many more problems to cope with in addition to the "minor" one you've decided Lucas will offer.

Lucas was excellent against Man U and also against Fulham. It would be nice to see some of our alleged supporters actually supporting a young player who seems to be hitting his stride in the first team rather than mindlessly slagging him off. But I suppose now that Riise has gone and Kuyt is playing well the usual suspects need a whipping boy.
this has got nothing to do with him being a brazilian player of the year, fulham man u, kuyt or risse...he is technically and physically inferior to all 3 of them as such i expect him to struggle.can you convince me otherwise???

yeah. 9 times out of 10 lucas plays with a heck of a lot of control and composure.

sure he's made some schoolboy errors but they're what people remember from the unglamorous roles. its why noone things much of mikel.

he does the unglamorous things but he does them consistently well. thats why he's in the team and why his confidence in himself is growning as well as the confidence his teammates have in him.

just cos he's a brazilian people seem to think he should play like ronaldinho. he's dunga.

                  You a fan?

Seriously, what made him stand out tonight? I've no doubt that had Mascherano played we would have been far better. But I'd have the same opinion had he played instead of Alonso, who was also poor.

he was distinctly average - par for the course this season unfortunately. wasn't the only one though. far more experienced, not to mention first team, players were just as bad.

                    missed mascherano, big time.

Posted this elsewhere but bar the odd exception I think his performance level peaks at average.

He's no great tackler, has no great physical presence, no notable pace, poor decision making and offers little threat around the opposition area.

Trying not to make this a knee-jerk reaction to tonight as everybody was pretty bad but this lad surely has no future at the club.

                        Just got back from Anfield.

Anyone who rates that useless, weak, ****house, pathetic cunt of a footballer deserves to be shot. He has absolutely NOTHING to his game. At least Mascherano can tackle and hassle and Didi used to be able to pass and protect.

He was the worst player on the pitch by an absolute mile. He's awful. Genuinely woeful.

He's not the reason we lost tonight, but he was a major factor.

He should be absolutely no where near Liverpool football club.

Considering the Chelsea midfield were concentrating on Gerrard, Lucas had all the freedom of Anfield and still did nothing. Pathetic, almost wants to make you to beg for Gareth Barry.

Lucas isa good player but not cut out for the premier league. Chelsea did not even bother with him and he could not do anything.

I think it is very clear from last nights game that Lucas will never make it here at Anfield. Anyone who cares to disagree is just plain deluded IMHO.

He is just not good enough, in almost every aspect of his game. And we just cannot afford to carry any passengers. I really hate saying what might have been, but Lucas should be moved on this Summer for his own sake just as much as Liverpool's.

It goes to show people see what they want to see, Lucas didn't play well but tell me anyone apart from Torres who held their own??
Lucas is 20 odd and a back up player Carra is a seasoned international who was buffed about by Drogba all night, Gerrard is our captain and the worlds best player according to a lot of footballing people and Essien didn't break sweat against him. I could go on, we had a near team of experienced internationals playing but it's all the young kid from brazil's fault.

It's also very hard to pass the ball to anyone when they are all hiding and not moving to make space, you're bound to be shut down if you can't pass it to anyone because they are too scared to receive the ball.
