It's almost as if they make it up.

That was what I really wanted this summer, above everything else.

But I think the business of Real Madrid and Man City has seriously ****ed up any chance we had of signing such a quality player.

I'd settle for a decent back up striker to Torres at this point.

I remember the BBC reporting Torres was signed for £26.5m.

I think Silva is attainable. Whether he's good enough to be that kind of player on a consistent basis, is another issue.

The BBC have no idea and just get their information from other news sources half the time.

That's understandable really as you can't expect them to know everything. What does not help anyone is the confusion between Euros and pounds sterling.

£15.3m with future add ons could easily amount to close to €20m, hence all the confusion.

I still dream of Villa, but back to reality, perhaps just Silva will do.

you want villa and torres up front and gerrard back in midfield?

                    I don't.

                      Tuncay would be ideal imo.

johnson, silva and aquilani as a replacement for xabi would appear on paper to be a decent amount of business for us.

Silva is the key though. If we get him we're back in business.

To be honest even Mata would be ok - he's younger and faster. he looks like he has quick feet and would cost half of what silva would cost. Wouldnt have the immediate impact of silva but would have time to develop into a quality player.

                          So the important questions are:

                          Can he take a corner

and can he take a freekick

We've needed some more class in both departments since Gary Mac left.

                            Is Aqualini even fit?
                            Oh I don't know.

Hold on, Aquilani isn't a defensive midfielder compared to Xabi who could play there. I'd be inclined to think we'll need another midfielder in case Mascher gets injured or he's indeed rested.

LOL - i think that most teams will be fearing ronaldo, kaka and benzema more than Xabi "2 or 3 goals per season" alonso!
