johnson, silva and aquilani as a replacement for xabi would appear on paper to be a decent amount of business for us.

Silva is the key though. If we get him we're back in business.

To be honest even Mata would be ok - he's younger and faster. he looks like he has quick feet and would cost half of what silva would cost. Wouldnt have the immediate impact of silva but would have time to develop into a quality player.

Still need one more 'make the difference' player.

Whether it's a striker, attacking mid, winger or whatever - we need one.

Every team (apart from Madrid) need this type of player.

Im actually impressed with the way the club has dealt with this, Alonso leaves and within 24hrs we get a "replacement" in. Have Manu replaced Ronaldo so quickly, Arsenal - Adebayor? Alonso wanted out, we got a good fee and someone in quickly....not too shabby

On another note, Alonso and Masch were at time a little too defensive at times, if this fella is as good as we hope he is then perhaps we have someone that can play in CM well enough to allow us to open teams up a little more without compromising at the back or needing Gerrard to fill that position. Perhaps thats why Rafa wanted Barry, we needed someone a little more adventurous than Xabi (yes he could pass but he wasnt quite a "get forward" type of player all the time)
