In all honesty, i wasnt 100% convinced this morning either.

Sides like Villa and, worryingly Everton, concern me a little.

We had the same amount of points before todays match as we did at the same time last season and look how we finished. There are always teams like Villa etc... who start the season well. Look at last season, Charlton won 5 of their first six games and look where they finished. Look at Pompey now, Do you expect them to finish above us? I don't!

We have all the right tools to win more matches and as the season progresses we will do so. 10pts from 12 at home isn't bad, we drew matches at home last season and will draw at home again this season...it happens.

What concerns me is the away form but the fixture list hasn't been kind to us and we're probably in a false position at the moment at the expense of that. As the season progresses we WILL improve.

I take all that on board mate, but if we're being totally honest, i'd suggest that we over achieved a bit in the league last season and will find it difficult to maintain that.

We just dont PLAY the kind of decisive football that the other 3 do, often enough.

Some fair points and all mate, but we must remember that last season we went on an incredible, record breaking sequence of results, (I agree that we'll improve over the coming weeks and months,) but are we really going to do the same this season ?

We've got no God given right to be in the top four, dont get me wrong, I actually do think we'll finish fourth in the end, but with Villa in top form, you never know, we've got to be careful.

I agree with that but at the moment we are playing inconsistently. As the season progresses and the new recruits settle I have no doubt that we will develop that killer instinct.

We'll easily make the top four. Things could look an awful lot rosier if we have a good fortnight. That is a big if though, as at the moment we're just not doing it as a team. The first hour of play today was absolutely horrendous. Things can change quickly, we'll see.

Still strange that Fowler isn't closer to the first team, especially on the back of an international break.

Is it just killer instinct we lack?

We dont seem capable of playing that direct, quick-paced attacking football that just suffocates opponents.

Or at least, if we do, it's very rare.

Sadly, the simple fact is that we dont have (enough) quality players to do it.

Look at players like Robben, Ronaldo, Giggs, Van Persie and now even Walcott. They make things happen, they EXCITE.

Look at some of ours. Pennant. Aurelio. Gonzalez. Bellamy.

I KNOW it's early for the new boys and i'm really trying not to jump to conclusions, but the difference in quality seems to stand out like a sore thumb.

What do you expect to come away from OT with?

I know you didn't ask me that question but I'll answer it anyway.

I'd settle for a point but a win would be excellent.

I expect a draw though because both teams have to much to lose.
