All our front four were woeful yesterday. Is that coincidence? NO. they had no supply from the midfield and all the defenders (namely Carragher) kept playing the ball long. Mascherano and Lucas were within 10 yards of each other throughout the game. I can only recall Babel being passed the ball to his feet twice yesterday. On one of those occasions, he was surrounded BY 4 TOTTENHAM PLAYERS. What the ****? How is he meant to do anything if he's surrounded by 4 players? And if he's surrounded by 4 players, then why was no one backing him up and moving into space? Kuyt was frequently passed the ball yet lost it virtually every time. Torres kept going to ground every time he ran with the ball, but yet Torres can do no wrong in peoples eyes. And Gerrard put away a penalty and had 2 shots - what else did he do? I think some of people the comments made towards Babel are disgraceful. Forget his past performances and look at yesterdays game. All the front four were bad.

Spurs worked very very hard to stop the wide players and the midfield were too deep.

It was only the last minutes that we had a midfield player with the ball and options 10 yeards from the penatly box.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

Finally some sense. What ****ed me off most was that when Babel was surrounded he had **** all support from the rest of the front six. But it was pretty much the same when Kuyt recieved the ball. I think Spurs did a job on our CM and it's a shame to say they didn't have to work to hard to do that.

Babel was **** yesterday, but so where Gerrard, Torres, Kuyt, Masch, Lucas, Carra etc. It's unfair to critisize him for the performance yesterday as quite clearly the problems lie elsewhere.

Did spurs do a good job though? Or did our players not move around enough - it's a combination of both. We had 2 holding midfielders to their one but our 2 never moved around enough. I don't mean to single out lucas but whenever Mascherano has the ball, lucas is always within a few yards of him (he's been doing this whenever he's played with Masch). I don't see why he won't ever run into space or help out the wingers?

lol, mate, you've singled out our entire strike force. Torres
Our entire Midfield Masch, Lucas, Kuyt, Babel and Gerrard.
              Our defenders, Carra.

So where does the problem lie? Goalkeeper?

              Lol

No brains, in some places that's a talent. Bush did it for years.

Seriously though, his first touch is shocking for an international player.

To be fair but he's not being criticised for his performance last night, he's been criticised for his performance over the last 2 years of which last night was just another example.

Babel had numerous occasions when he was one on one with Corluka and either lost the ball, ran into a blind alley or simply played the ball back where it had come. Granted the rest of the team didnt play well but he was especially poor yesterday.

Impact substitute when the game is a little more open is his best position IMO. And generally when we're winning and the other team is forced to attack. Bringing him on when we're losing would be pointless as it would be too congested for him.

But that is what is so pathetic about all this.

Someone gave Babel 3/10 and others 5/10 when he was no better or no worse than them yesterday. So he gave Babel 3/10 because of past performances? How ridiculous.

I can easily understand why someone would come on here and say drop/sell Babel because he hasn't been able to show on the pitch that he is up to the job. I can also understand why someone would come on here and call him ****. But to single him out for yesterdays display and say he was the worst player by far on the pitch for us is a complete and utter joke.

No it's not it is an opinion. I dont think anyone has solely blamed Babel for our defeat yesterday but he was clearly very very poor. IMO a 3/10 performance.

The rest werent much better but performed marginally better IMO. Less than half team can come out of yesterdays game with any credit.

Because every time he get's the ball you half (being generous) expect him to screw up, so when he does you get "here we go again" etc.

Negative sticks in your mind more when it's part of a pattern, be it good or bad such is human nature.

so me thinking babel was **** yeterday makes me stupid?

he had a shocker of a game, but so did stevie and nando, kuyt on the other hand i don't expect to be breathtaking but just to put in a shift, other players should have to take offensive responsabilities and one of them was/is babel, but he has not shown he can do that since he arrived. his first season was supposed to be a learning one, but by the looks of it, it was his best. and how come benny saw 3x more of the ball in the last 20 mins than babel did in the whole match?

voronin had a decent game when he came on, and so did lucas, but if your forwrads don't make themselves avaliable for a pass there's nothing to do but to pass it backwards.

and imo rafa should have taken gerrard off after half-time as he clearly wasn't fit, and was not dictating play when he dropped back to midfield, but just kicking the ball to torres who's gonna pull a hamstring if he's forced to chase these sorts of ball.

awful display yesterday, and the only ones who came out of it with any credits are pepe, insua, johnson, lucas and benny(maybe also voronin but he didn't spend too much time on the pitch)

Anyone singling him out is stupid. When Benayoun came on, Gerrard was playing in midfield - our passing/distribution was much better for this reason. And did Benni frequently have 2-4 people marking him? If Babel had come off the bench in that second half, I guarentee he would have had a similar impact.
