THE Ryan Babel thread

That for me is the crux of the matter. I'd be willing to back him if he worked hard but just wasn't good enough (until he was moved on) - and frankly what he does in his spare time should be his business, but knowing how much some fans put into his wages, if I were in his position I would want to keep a low profile until I was performing. Which incidentally, I would rather see him working on.Really?

From the daily HATE
Rafa Benitez fired a blunt message to Ryan Babel yesterday, warning him time is running out to salvage his Liverpool future after his £11.5million move from Ajax two years ago.
Ahead of Monday's home game with Aston Villa, Benitez said: 'Ryan has to give something to us this time and he knows it. He will have opportunities to prove himself with so many games coming up, but it is important he has the right mentality.
'Maybe there were some problems adapting to a new style when he arrived as a young player.
'He knows what is going on here now and hopefully can perform better. He accepts he has to perform at a different level this year.'

I don't think Rafa will get rid of Babel in the next week or two but I certainly wouldn't be shocked if he sold him in January.Originally posted by Tatterdemalion View PostFrom the daily HATE

People mention our 'weak squad'
but given the fact that Babel doesn't really bring us anything at all, would it make a difference if we sold him? I think not. Shame because he had a good first season with us and I thought he'd get better and better, but he's regressed sadly.

He's not a striker. He's never played up front for club or country (maybe for u21's). He's played out wide in a 4-3-3 his whole career at Ajax and for Holland.Originally posted by Shanks007 View PostMust be the only player in the team (and Doss) with negative equity.
The lad is a striker. Maybe Rafa should try playing him in that position a bit more often and get his confidence up.
Good to see Rafa has given him a bollocking. He deserved it after that ****house effort he put in at Spurs."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah
"looking through your posts since 2007 and what you have consistently written about my football team I have come to the conclusion that if you had 1 more brain cell you would be a plant .. your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elder berries, I fart in your general direction ..." Nicey

but he sees himself as a striker, sure he has said that himself and thats half the issue, i am not sure he is happy playing out left at all , hence in that ****ed up brain of his doesnt seem to give it his all out thereOriginally posted by Harv View PostHe's not a striker. To all those who were quick to blame Ryan Babel.
Yes you all know who you are. I'm not going to try and change your minds as it would be a waste of my time. But I will call you all out on it.
After the Spurs game I read through a lot of the post match thread and Ryan Babel threads and the general feeling amongst a lot of people was that Liverpools ****e attacking display had all been down to Babel being ****. And that the reason LFC suddenly became so good was because Babel was taken off for Yossi.
I argued that the improvement was down To Spurs sitting back and no longer pressing us. This was dismissed. I argued that the real reason are team had not been good enough was a problem in centre midfield. This was dismissed. In fact I was told by a lot of people that Lucas had been one of the best players on the pitch.
I said at the time Babel did not have a good game, but that he did no worse than anyone else and that the problem was elsewhere.
I would be interested to know if people still feel we lost against Spurs because Ryan Babel was rubbish and that we would have won had Yossi started.Forwards.......

Well 'call' me out on it then Danny LMAO!!!
I gave him 3/10 as he played very poorly along with over half the team who werent up to their usual standard. Maybe some people blamed Babel entirely but i know i didnt.....it was a ****e team performance much like last night where Gerrard for once was one of our poorest players.

its purely mental to blame our spurs loss on a winger!! he contributed to it though but was in no way the main reasonOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostYes you all know who you are. I know what you said and all of that is not aimed at you, though parts obviously do apply to what you said. I agreed with everyone who said Babel was poor. But I don't think he was worse than anyone else - though you clearly do - and I don't think bringing Yossi on for Babel was the reason for our much improved performance, I can't remember your thoughts on that?Originally posted by Ben_Itez View PostWell 'call' me out on it then Danny LMAO!!!

This is true, but the fact the specific criticism was unfair, it doesn't change the fact that he is ****.Originally posted by reds123 View PostWhen a team loses everyone wants to blame a player, and vs Spurs Babel was the scapegoatTrey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

personal opinion of a players ability is one thing. But laying the blame on him for the whole teams performance is another. Especially when a winger impacts very little on the game in general - They can have a poor game personally but still have no real effect on how the rest of team develop the play.Originally posted by Operation View PostThis is true, but the fact the specific criticism was unfair, it doesn't change the fact that he is ****.Forwards.......

As said i thought he was 3/10 but without checking my post im pretty sure i gave about five players 4 or 5/10, maybe more. Maybe i get more frustrated with Babel as i thought he was going to be a world beater for us and if anything it seems to me as if he's gone backwards.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI know what you said and all of that is not aimed at you, though parts obviously do apply to what you said. Yossi played better individually when he came on than Babel but i dont think you can equate that with our overall improvement, obviously it would have helped as he managed to keep possession but too many factors changed to say it was all down to Yossi. IIRC Gerrard moved into midfield and Spurs sat back much like Villa did last night.'Religion is killing each other over who has the best imaginary friend'
