    SOS action at Debrecen game

EGM Outcome And Meeting with Christian Purslow
    Mon 14 Sep 2009

    SOS

The Spirit of Shankly Supporters' Union met at The Olympia on Saturday to allow the Management Committee to launch its proposed direct action campaign to see the American "owners" removed from the Club.

The campaign is to send a clear and unequivocal signal to the owners that they are no longer welcome at our airport, hotels, restaurants, ground, club or city. The campaign will focus upon media profile, leafleting, billboards and banners.

We plan protests, banners and chanting at the Debrecen game this Wednesday, at West Ham next Saturday (if you are going please get in touch with Jay McKenna at [email protected]) and the away game at Leeds United (which will have a special resonance bearing in mind we are moving towards being "the next Leeds").

In addition we are asking for anyone who can help with intelligence on their proposed arrival within the city for matches to let us know as far in advance as possible. This will lead to direct, non-violent action, to prevent them from getting from their planes to their hotels, from their hotels to restaurants or pubs, from getting close to our ground, from getting into the ground and if in the ground, to consider disruption within there too.

Interestingly, following our meeting on Saturday we have been contacted by the Club and representatives from the Committee have been invited to meet Christian Purslow on Wednesday before the Debrecen game.

The Committee will be putting the leaflet questions (and others) to the Club at that meeting. Members are asked to email [email protected] if they have any further questions about the ownership or financing (the meeting will be limited to these issues only) - if we can we will include these and we will, of course, report back afterwards to all members.

SOS are a laughing stock. They're going to tar us all with the same brush. Idiots.

We've just secured a mega shirt deal. We've spent as much as any of the other teams in the top 4 this summer.

Lets get on with the game and ignore this ****.

Can't help feeling its all becoming like the unions with SOS.

They had a massive chance this summer to make a statement of intent and yet again they FAILED.

I don't know what to think about all this, but i did get handed the black leaflet on saturday and it said something like 'Hold this up during you'll never walk alone, to show them they're not welcome' but i didn't see anyone doing that and I don't think the billy and george would have either.

Can anyone tell what the general feeling is on SOS around liverpool.

There is no general feeling, most people want the yanks out at the same time most arent willing to get involved. I havent agreed with everything SOS have done but im member now and its the thing trying to get the yanks out.

Whilst i want these ******s gone, i honestly dont think they give a flying **** about people chanting nasty things at them.

Forcibly trying to physically stop them getting off planes, into cars etc etc, will just get you arrested.

I've said it before, but the only meaningful way to hurt them is to stop buying tickets and merchandise - hit them in the only place they hurt, the pocket.

However, that is not going to happen.

We would be the next Leeds if we spent outside our means, and kept mounting debt on the club, but we are reducing the debt and the club is not buying players we can not afford

They had a meeting, and this was the best they could come up with? Non-violent? I very much doubt that...the intention would be for non-violent protests, but all it would take is a couple of mindless souls to turn a non-violent process into something else...this smacks of desperation in my mind
