Who do you suggest we play if Aurelio and Dossena are out injured?

He's not been playing his best and given a fully fit squad I would have taken him out of the firing line, but at the moment on or off form he's the only option we've got
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The whole team are off form at the minute. Last year when we were playing well, Insua slotted in seamlessly, something like 10 wins and one draw in eleven of his starts. If the senior players around him are underperforming, it’s no great surprise to see his confidence and form drop.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It can't help him either having the rest of the back four so unsettled. We've had to use 3 different RB's and 4 different CB's so far this season.

            He is struggling a bit.
Could probably do with a rest, and a bit less responsibility for now.

If you look at carefully at how the goals came about, Insua was last man standing in each of the situations therefore he gets the blame.

In the 1st goal, The Greek 'aikos' miss-head the ball into the direction of Duff the rest is history.

In the 2nd goal, its been said, Kuyt tried his best to flick the ball to 2 waiting Liverpool players, instead the ball got intercepted, the rest is history.

Poor decision-making and fine margins, if's and but's.

I find the way you single out Insua and Spearing totally baffling, you abuse Insua and yet priase Spearing for better or worse qualities. Its is the Spearing thread and I can't be arsed dragging it up.

Spearing hasn't been caught out in every match he's played unlike Insua and hasn't cost us goals.
I'm not saying Spearing will be good enough for us in the long run but Insua has played and is playing regularly hence
he's an easier target for criticism..
I appreciate we have alot of injuries in defence hence Insua has to play.
Overall though he's simply not good enough for Liverpool and never will be.

That’s a bold statement to make for a player that Rafael like's very much. If you were the manager when Carragher was coming up through the ranks I guess he'd never be here. Patience is a virtue with talent. Its a shame you don't see that in Insua.

And that Marky, is why people on this site do not take your views seriously. He did very well last season and I expect him to get better with experience. He'll be a very good player for this club for years to come IMO, but time will tell.

I just don't believe he has enough about him Danny.

I mean if he was rampant going forward or a great crosser of the ball or something we would have something to work with but i honestly don't think he has enough attributes. People could say he's good on the ball but he gives it away every game in the worst of places on the pitch.

I remember the game at the Emirates last season when we drew 1-1.. Insua played and i thought ****ing hell this lad is going to be a star but the more i've watched him since then my opinion has changed a great deal.

I hope he surprises me and goes on to become our number one left back for the next 10 years but i personally don't think he possesses enough qualities to do this.

I watched him in the reserves for a couple of years prior to him getting in the first team and it was clear he was the stand out player on virtually every occasion, more so than Spearing and even Nemeth, who grabbed all the headlines.

Insua has fantastic technique and I tell you he is superb at getting forward and supporting the attack, what he is lacking is two key components. Firstly he is lacking positional sense, sometimes he goes to sleep when he should be marking the opposition more tightly. Sadly this is the same thing many young defenders lack and it is something that improves greatly over time.

Secondly, he lacks that blistering pace that would get him out of trouble when he makes mistakes. If he possessed more pace he could likely cover up most of his flaws, just like other top young full backs such as Cole, Clichy and the Da Silva twins at Man Utd. He is fast enough for his position, that is not an issue and with time the positional sense will come.

When it all comes together you'll once again see a very good full back.

He will develop into a quality player. But he needs continuity in our back line. Right now we are being forced to chop and change because of injuries and thats helping nobody

                              That's my feeling too.

Is the consensus that he did better yesterday than he has recently?
