Go's without saying, as with every player his age.
I mean, I don't think he's ever going to be a spectacular right back in the way Johnson has the potential to be, but with a lot of hard work he could be a very solid addition.
Certainly he has shown enough for us to off load Dossena and just work with Aurelio and Insua.

In fairness he probably played one of his best games for us. Looked alot stronger and much more assured on the ball...
Maybe his assist for Gerrard's goal against Wolves has given him a much needed confidence boost.
The question now is, can he keep it going or will he return to his mistake ridden, slow, clumsy ways? Only time will tell."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

Spot on.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostInsua was good but did have a couple of dodgy moments - once with the penalty shout (not a pen but slack work from Insua nontheless) and he allowed men in behind him once or twice with some dodgy positioning.
His heading and positioning have to improve, it could have cost us today.

I thought he was very good today and will only get better IMO.
Did anyone notice that he was picking up Dunne on Corners ( Before Redknapp spotted it ) I was saying to my son at the time " Why the **** is Insua marking a big Center Half", but during the second half I noticed it was the other way round ................The big " Center Half" would pick up Insua's zone!.............Something Rafa should sort out I think..........either put the little fella on the post or more towards the edge of the area in a zonal marking check the video and seeYou Can Lead A Horse To Water , But A Pencil Must Be Lead!

Actually Nicey I think that comments not entirely unfair - Villa definitely targetted him and he isn't the quickest in the world - a couple of times he did get slightly caught out of position and also one or two of his clearances weren't the best. He also isn't great in the air generally.Originally posted by Nicey View PostReally i must have missed that .. tell me when that happened .. which half ? i'll go back a watch the game again
However he's really still a baby in defensive terms, he'll improve a lot over the next few years in terms of reading the game etc if he continues to show the mentality he has so far.
However, he also did some very good things today, he's very willing to get forward and he was left rather exposed imo by the playing of Benayoun on the left - Benny just isn't a left winger and came inside a lot, leaving us very narrow in attack and short of players covering on the flank in defence.
I think the lad will be a cracking player in a few years if he keeps working hard at his game.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
