i baffles how people can be so closed minded over this. just because you think the guy is a **** dont let that cloud ur mind over his talent. everybody i talk to about lfc agrees on 3 things.......firstly we are way too reliant on ste and torres........secondly lucas is utter garbage......and thirdly we dont utilise babel as much as we should. other teams rate him and quite rightly so.

You can have all the talent in the world, but if you're just plain old stoopid you will never get anywhere...Babel falls into this category. He will never make it in one of the major leagues.

It is not laziness, I think he fooled most of you. At least he's good at that. If you look at Babel closely during matches, you'll see that he is completely clueless at what he should do with the ball when he's got it, or how to position himself and create space when he hasn't got it. He always takes the wrong option and ends up in blind alleys.

His goal against Lyon was the more exceptional as his run wasn't good at all, as he drifted infield and he was close to getting outnumbered, then he lashed it and scored a great goal. His lack of celebration after his goal simply showed that he was lucky to score.

I'm not a fan of Babel at all but he does offer things we don't have elsewhere in the squad - i.e. pace and directness. So I do really hope he fulfills the talent that everyone else sees.

I think it is easy to see that he has some aspects to his game like pace and a good shot but in the equally important areas of awareness, movement and determination he has very little to offer at present. He may well be a late bloomer - he certainly seems to be getting the message (finally) that closing down the opposition is in general a good idea when we don't have the ball.

I can't decide if he is a bit lazy or it's a combination of being easily put off - i.e. when things don't come off for him he doesn't keep trying but goes into his shall and a lack of tactical nous but he is bloody annoying to watch.

That said I was quite enjoying see one of our players zip about the pitch for the first 5 minutes against City. However other than the goal against Lyon it's the best he has done all season.

The only consolation is that he does show glimpses of what he can do and this will hopefully have kept his price fairly high.

Personally I think he should have been managed better but how dare I try to criticise Rafa, so I will stop right there with that one.

I meant that he didn't have any idea of what he was doing when he started his run. He then went through the middle, saw that he was starting to get outnumbered then decided to take a punt long distance. The shot and goal was exceptional but his run wasn't. He never set out a shot like this, it just happened because he didn't have any choice.

I kind of agree with you, the run was a bit Pennant like in that it seemed to be started with the vague hope that a gap would appear. That said though he was, unlike JP, looking for the opportunity and was ready to take it when it appeared.

The bloke is an utter ****. He does nothing but whinge and run into people....with the odd long range belter thrown in for good measure.

Yes, it was uncalled calling him various things for not trying to play through an injury and (not just minded at you btw) saying that he would be ready to train the day after, and he had no will to sacrifice himself for the team - when he was clearly injured and still is!

I agree he doesn't have the mental attributes needed to become a succes here, but that is far from enough to to warrant that kind of attack on one of our players when he gets injured.

And I know you won't admit that it was uncalled for - but I don't particular think it's the way we should support our players - however poor he might be.

I honestly hope he has broken his foot or done some serious damage because that is the only excuse for leaving the pitch on Saturday, he has waited for a chance to start gets hit with a bad tackle admittedly but then sits down on the floor, Stevie tries to gee him up and he limps off.
If he is fit to play in the next week to 10 days I will be livid because it'll prove that yes he was tackled hard but could have played on with it to help himself as much as the team.

RYAN BABEL is edging closer to the Anfield exit after launching an astonishing attack on manager Rafa Benitez and his team-mates.

The Dutchman, who misses tonight’s Champions League clash with Debrecen due to injury, insists Benitez is partly to blame for his failure to make the grade in the Premier League.

And the 22-year-old claims his progress has been hampered by the “selfish” attitude of some Reds stars.

Babel’s comments look set to be the final nail in his Liverpool career with Benitez likely to offload the under-achieving winger during the January transfer window.

“I have tried to talk to the manager but it isn't of any use,” Babel said.

“I couldn't really do anything with the feedback Benitez gave me.

“His philosophy is simple – try your hardest in training and then your chance will come. But sometimes I wonder how long I can sustain it.

“Many players can play lots of bad matches and still keep their credits – I can't.

“Benitez is not a man who will give you his trust straightaway. Benitez is a manager who in certain situations can do exactly the opposite of what you expect several times.

“Every time me or my agent (Willie Haatrecht) have a chat with him he stresses I can't leave and he believes in me.

“We have to trust he is telling the truth. Saying it is different to showing it. We have agreed to look at my situation during the winter break. If there's no improvement then, I have to be honest, I want to play somewhere else.
