My only gripe, and i've said it many times, is i just don't see the need for 2 deep lying midfielders against teams that we know will sit back. For games like this i would contemplate dropping Mascher, letting Lucas do that role and having two players in behind Torres instead of just Gerrard, and still with the wide players supporting...kind of a 4-1-2-3 formation i guess.

Ryan Babel is back in the team for tonight. Although not entirely sure if he is starting

I'd go all out to **** em up:

        -----------Reina

        Johnson ---Carra--- Agger----Fabio

        Yossi --Aquilani --Mascherano --Riera

        ----------Gerrard
        -----------Torres

Who would you rather have on the left wing?
          Riera.

I'd go with that too, is Riera fit? Otherwise Yossi on the left and Kuyt right. In fact, Kuyt will be on the right anyway, probably the only dead cert

the captain owes us a big big performance tonight.

no more hiding, no more sulking he is conspicious by his absence at the moment.......leaving jamie and fernando to rally the troops.

I feel Stevie is beginning to lose faith

I agree, the only thing stopping him being an absolute nailed on undisputable legend is he has a tendancy to appear stroppy and disinterested every now again.

I've said this before but the greatest game of Roy Keane's career came after knowing he would be suspended for the CL Final, in the same circumstances Gerrard would have sulked preoccupied by his own personal misfortune.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I'm still of the opinion that Gerrard is not captain material...a great player, inspirational on his day, but too prone to berating and sulking, rather than encouraging the players...misplace a pass to him and he'll give you a glare, rather than applaud the intent...he misplaces a pass to you and he'll accuse you of not making the run...like i said, fantastic player, but not the right one to gee the troops up.

I used to think Carra would be the ideal choice, but recently i've been impressed with Reina and his attempts to raise moral...see the Johnson own goal for example...other heads dropped, but Reina came out clapping, trying to get the heads back up.

Take the captaincy away from him and we risk losing the player, especially if we fail to get a top 4 finish.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."
