you seem to be always covering your arse.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI think Rafa deserves until the end of the season after last year. With Houllier it was a ****e season followed by another ****e season. But in this case we were fantastic last season, our best in the Premier League.
Would be harsh to give Rafa the boot based on half a season.
However, do we really want to give Rafa more money to spend? What if he doesn't turn it around? It would be money wasted that could have been given to the new manager. If we did get a new manager in NOW, it would give him a chance to look at the squad and then sell and bring in players as he saw fit in January.
But it would be harsh on Rafa. I still think he can turn it around and get 4th place. But we need Aquilani to be as good as we hoped when he finally does get match fit.
you clearly think he's ****e but haven't the balls to say it.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

He should have had more money to spend in the summer, I'm certain something happened there to our budget. And while we should still be doing better with the players we have at the moment, the restrictions placed on us meant that the other sides were going to get closer to usThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

More like Birmingham and Blackburn etc now.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostUnfortunately we're too far behind the scum to worry about their results, it's the likes of City, Villa, Spurs etc whose results will have most impact on us

The way we played was more disappointing than the result.
It's obvious what a new manager brings to the team, we saw first hand the new lease of life Portsmouth have since Grant took over. It looks as if this is whats needed to kick start our team and our season.

It's depressing but I'm another one who can't support Benitez any longer. I'd always thought it would make most sense to wait till the end of the season before deciding on his future, but I'm at the stage now where I don't think we can afford to wait (based on footballing factors alone).
Unfortunately, perhaps the bigger problem is that I think the playing staff needs a major overhaul. At the start of the season I was concerned that there were only about 9 or 10 players in our squad that I would be genuinely sorry to lose. That figure has fallen to about 5 at most now, and that's perhaps being generous. The absence of quality is glaring, and I'm talking about our first 11 here.
At half time last week Wenger gave his players a bollocking and they responded by turning the game around qand taking 3 points. I've no confidence that Rafa is capable of doing the same. He's become incapable of influencing the course of a game, so rigidly attached is he to systems and formations. Well, sometimes that's just not enough. You need your players to show desire, character, spirit, and the ability to transcend adversity. In the past, we've seen these traits in Rafa's teams. At the moment, there's no sign of any of them. We know that he's a good manager. What he isn't is a good leader. And that's what we're crying out for at the moment.
I really hope Rafa chooses to go now. He doesn't deserve to suffer the indignity of being sacked. He's been a marvellous servant to this club, during some of the most difficult and challenging times we've had to endure. But I don't think he can take us any further.

How very sad that in december we're relying on other teams around us losing... we should take care of our own business! But the thing is we can't...
Why doesn't Rafa switch fcuking formations!! A few seasons back he switched to 3 - 5 - 2 against Newcastle away and we battered them! By 30 mins into the game I think we were 2 nil up! We swamped the MF had two up front and a tight back 3...
But no. Its 4 2 3 1 or nothing. Youve been found out Rafa! I suggest you start to practice different formations!

Pretty much how I feel to a word. I will always look out for Rada if he goes now and always remember him with real affection. I don't want to look at him the dame way I do Houllier now. Christ, this is ****ing heartbreaking isn't it?

I can understand why people would want Rafa to go, I'm coming round to the idea myself. I didn't think I'd ever reach this point, but Rafa does seem to be clueless when it comes to changing things and inspiring the team - which is ultimately his job. I'm sure Dalglish could keep things going whilst we search for a replacement. I'd hate Klinsmann to take over, we need a proven manager we haven't got time to wait for a young manager to develop his skills. This is as low a point for LFC that I can ever remember.
