Maxi's a right-sided player and should be playing there. Of course he has Dirk in his way which is another debate.

All a bunch of average to decent players, thats where the problems lie. We need class either side of Gerrard, we wouldn't miss Torres as much then.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostWe have Riera, Maxi, Babel, Benni & Auerlio all vying for the left side and Kuyt on the right. Strange.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

thats bollox, take nando out of any team , they would miss him. yossi was one of the best performers in the prem before his injury.Originally posted by cream View PostAll a bunch of average to decent players, thats where the problems lie. when the dust settles, yes we lost, we had a great result on saturday and have been on a good run , thats what rafa and sami will be saying to the players, because its the truth

but all of those players ARE comfortable on the ball. yet as a team we are **** at retaining the ball or moving it on quickly and to feet.Originally posted by cream View PostAll a bunch of average to decent players, thats where the problems lie. how often have we played like this against arsenal away in the last 10 years?
its almost the same year in year out.
a change of approach is required imo. I just can't see away from home at least, much difference in the mentality of our current and previous manager. But 90% of the fans are happy with what gets served up, so long live rafa, long live gordon brown, long live peter sutcliffe. woohooooooooooo. happy days from here on in.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Off course any team would miss Nando, but for us he is the only one who can score regularly. We need more quality upfront so we don't miss him as much.Originally posted by ronniedrew View Postthats bollox, take nando out of any team , they would miss him. yossi was one of the best performers in the prem before his injury.

until we have money, we wont have the quality, we just signed another free player. so i wouldnt get too much hope of a 30m plus striker any time soon - the going rate for a top class striker?Originally posted by cream View PostOff course any team would miss Nando, but for us he is the only one who can score regularly. We deserved something from that, you're not going to go to Arsenal and outplay them for 90 minutes, but we had spells where we controlled the game and but for a stupid defensive lapse from Degen, they wouldnt have scored.
Should've had 2 penos too, one from a Vermalen handball from Maxi's shot and another when Gerrard was bundled over in the box.
We need to keep things tiding over until Nando's back, but we dont have a game this weekend, so that's more time for him. He wont be back for City or Blackburn at home but it wont be long after that.
I think we're capable of winning at City, they're looking disjointed and vulnerable, if we keep it solid as we have been lately, we can pinch something there.

Haven't read the thread but my general opinion is that we were very limp in attack. I really wanted Riera to come on for Maxi. It's early days for him and as Will says he needs a chance to bed in. The fact the the one save I can think of came from a Babel shot, a player who is widely derided on here is somewhat depressing.
Our defence seemed to lose organisation as soon as Carra went off.
I think add the trio of benny, Johnson and Torres and we will look a lot better offensively, But in the meantime we have to grind these results out, and we just couldn't do that tonight

I havent seen it on TV and MOTD left it out of their highlights, but i see no reason why Gerrard, when marauding through towards goal, would just tumble, unless he was bundled over.Originally posted by Reece View PostOn your point there Craig, I haven't seen the reply by I didn't think for a minute that the Gerrard one as a pen, and he didn't seem to thnk so either. The handball though - ridiculously blatant!
Regarding the 'toothless' in attack thing, both sides were keen to make sure they didnt lose and i dont think they created a hatful themselves, but as the home side and the more creative personnel, they were always going to have more chances than us.
I thought we were always in the game and controlled spells of it, but lacked the cutting edge in the final third, which is gonna happen with a rookie kid leading the line on his own.
We didnt create a barrage of chances, but we had our striker go through on goal and we had a couple of other half chances, as well as being very unlucky with a great effort being tipped onto the bar.
