Oh you're back tonight...Originally posted by GraciousGooner View PostWhy does Gerrard dive so much? Very odd.
I thought we were pathetic, yet actually derserved to win.
Think you'll finish 4th, but that was one of the worst/defensive performances a team has given this year.
Funny that

Just back. No doubt about it, Arsenal were there for the taking. Ngog is too inexperienced to lead the line. Maxi - taxi for Maxi after he missed that sitter. Very impressed with Masherano, Agger and Insua. The rest weren't anywhere near the standard required - SG was alright and Kuyt did well enough. A draw would have been fair
SG get off the rhs corners!!!! Very poor. Would play Riera ahead of Maxi

I think that would be when you put 6 past Everton at Goodison dont you? Or would it be when you put 6 past Blackburn at the Emirates?Originally posted by GraciousGooner View PostWhy does Gerrard dive so much? Very odd.

Our defensive performance was crap? Really? And you could only score one goal and creat one or two chances.
Get more sense out of a Yid.

Not sure why you need to be a sarcastic smart-arse about it.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI agree. Its totally out of character. I can't ever remember him diving in his 12 years in the first team.
I was talking about when he has a chance to score, not when he feels the chance is gone and the best he can do is win a freekick/peno.Last edited by Craig_H; 11-02-10, 02:03 AM.

Sorry if someone else has replicated this rant somewhere else in this thread, but I gave up looking about halfway through.
Our team at present is not exactly world-beating, but nor has it been since about '88.
Reina - best goalkeeper going IMO, defo not his fault tonight.
People blame Degen, like they did Dossena & Johnson, Eboue scored from the centre of the 6 yard box, not our full backs problem, cross from the left not the right as well!
Centre~halves, Skrtle,Agger,Krgyiakos & Carragher - fine, no worries there.
Midfield - host of options, most of them good - Maxi & Lucas are rated highly in their own countries for a reason. Gerrard hasn't turned up for a match yet - turn on him if you dare!
Offense- Benyi, Kuyt, Ngog, Riera, Torres
Apologies if the spelling isn't very good, but a rake of booze will do that to ya!
We can & will beat anyone, but also lose - Ngog is a fine player, but not ready to lead the line by himself. Torres frightens teams, allowing space for everyone else, but he is also the reason that we can't buy a second class forward. Why would anyone go knowing they'll be 2'nd fiddle to the best striker in the world? The peanut. Mans only natural predator.

That's exactly why it was Degen's fault.Originally posted by greystoneslfc View PostSorry if someone else has replicated this rant somewhere else in this thread, but I gave up looking about halfway through.

When the ball is the right flank, the left fullback comes out to meet the crosser, and the whole rest of the back four shifts across because of this.
Degen left the fella in acres of space and with all the time in the world.
Shocking defending.

I can see you point to a degree, but I still disagree (if you know what I mean!), enough defenders in the box to deal with that cross without Degen needing to stand on he edge of the 6 yard box.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThat's exactly why it was Degen's fault.

Gerrards free kick at the end wasnt a penalty. The guy was just infront of the box so it would of been a free kick if the ref had eyes. I also think Ngog should of not played and instead stuffed Kuyt up front with Maxi on the right. Would of been a bit better. Still, team tried. That keeps me happy.

Again Craig, I see your point, but I blame the entire defense, not just one player.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWell no, because with the backline shifting across, it would've (SHOULD'VE) been Degen who was standing in the position to intercept it.
Arsenal late '80s - Lee Dixon would have cleared that
Liverpool today. when we are the back foot anyway, but still one of our center-halves should have had that away.
Like I said before Craig, I see your point, I'm as disappointed as anyone in the result, but it's a team game, singling out individuals for blame I don't go for.The peanut. Mans only natural predator.
