Confirmed? cause I just found this. Oh yeah, sorry about the dodgy spelling.Mr Skrtel

LIVERPOOL FC last night eased their way into the last 16 of the Europa League.

Skipper Steven Gerrard set a personal scoring record, but the Reds’ progress came at a cost with fears Martin Skrtel could miss the rest of the season with a suspected broken right foot.
After falling behind to an 18th-minute Bruno Fernandes header, Benitez's side fought back to beat Unirea Urziceni 3-1 in Bucharest and win 4-1 on aggregate.

Goals from Javier Mascherano, Ryan Babel and Steven Gerrard helped set up a tie against French side Lille next month.

Gerrard's strike – a first since January 2 – was his 33rd in European competition, surpassing the British record previously held by Alan Shearer.

And the Liverpool skipper said: “It is always nice to break records from a personal point of view, particularly goalscoring ones.

“I have been working really hard to get back among the goals but the most important thing is to get through to the next round.”

Benitez saluted Gerrard's achievement, and said: “It's a real positive for him and for the club.

”It also means we have played a lot of games in Europe, and that's something we are improving and hopefully we can play more games this year and he can score more goals.

“It's very good news for the club. We're a historic club with a lot of records and to have a new one is massive not only for him but also the club.”

Not good news was the injury to Skrtel, who left the field on a stretcher midway through the second half after a 50-50 challenge with Unirea substitute Antonio Semedo.

The Slovakian's injury will be assessed at Melwood today, but Benitez delivered a gloomy initial prognosis last night.

“We don't know about Skrtel, but it could be a broken foot,” said the manager. “It's bad news, we will have to wait and see but I think it was a bad foul.”

Benitez's side have now lost only one of their last nine games, and the Spaniard was pleased with the reaction of his players to going behind.

“We needed to show we wanted to progress,” he said. “Our players worked very hard from the start. We think this competition is very important so we are trying to do well in it.”

The manager added: “We showed character after going behind. We knew it could be a difficult game because the pitch was very bad and after conceding an early goal we needed to be calm and try to do the job properly.

“We scored a goal and everything was easier and with the second and third it was better.”

Its unfortunate for us obviously but more so for him. Just coming back into form after a difficult period for much of this season and now he faces quite a while on the sidelines. Luckily we have great cover in Carra and Kyrgiakos.

Gutted, so much bad luck with injuries this season- especaillay when he was finding form. Dont see it as a foul though- wasnt anyone's fault.

            When's Krygiakos's ban over?
            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Definitely think we may see more of Martin Kelly now.

The number of injuries we've had this season is crazy
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

As long as Agger, Carra and Sotiris stay fit we'll be fine, Kelly is back and Johnson is on his way back as well. What happened to Ayala though? Was he loaned out?
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

San Jose was loaned out but I don't recall Ayala being. Not sure though.

Aye I was thinking about Ayala last night. Played a couple of games at the start of the season and invisible since. I'm sure he's not out on loan.

Rafael Benitez fears Martin Martin Skrtel may have broken his toe during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Unirea Urziceni in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Reds completed a 4-1 aggregate win in Bucharest, but Benitez's main concern is now with his injured Slovakian international.

"I think he maybe has a broken toe and I have to check with the doctor," the boss revealed after the game.

"We will have to check but I don't think it's good news for us."

I think Sorto will serve the final game of his suspension against Blackburn.

So Carra will have to move back central, and Rafa's got a decision to make between Kelly or Mascherano at right back.

Weren't those games before we brought Kyriakos in? Maybe he's just move down the pecking order, beacuse of Kyriakos' arrival?
