Another massive loss? £2m? Provided the deal goes through of course and the fee is accurate.

Rafa can be questioned on many things but I'm fairly sure he has a good record of selling for a profit. I'm sure if you added them all up it'd come out well in his favour.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Riera and Mark Gonzalez competing for a place on the left...

Hopefully we put some sort of clause into the deal about Krasic coming to us.

Was the original fee inclusive of Finnan? He must have been a £1m player when he left? If so a £1m loss on an out of form player not being used and who's 2 years older isn't that bad a deal.

The fee is disappointing as he's become an established international since he's been here. The situation and attitude (plus a lack of alternative clubs to sell to) have reduced his value
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

thus proving that he is a complete cunt.

I guess it depends on a lot of factors - the reported fees are rarely accurate and often the numbers are converted one for one from another currency. The relative strengths of the currencies involved in the two transfers at the times of the deals and the payment terms will make a huge difference to how much we get and what the nett result is financially.

On a different note - I have been wondering whether the example of Riera has been good for Babel. By this I mean that he has seen that he is not being personally victimised but that other players who were previously first team regulars drop out of favour if they fail to train well and show commitment.

In general I think there is an irony in the fact that Riera complains that losing three good professionals with seemingly excellent attitudes in Alonso, Hyypia and Arbeloa has had a massive effect when what it clearly meant that the proportion of workshy players with a lack of character like himself was increased and that was one of the major factors in the problems we have had.

If he was SO bothered about his World Cup place he should have really knuckled down, trained hard and when playing (even when out of form ) he should have busted a gut for the shirt and tried his hardest. But no he thinks moaning like a bitch to a journalist is gonna improve his prospects....FAIL!!!

I was generally a fan but good ****ing riddance.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

They try to make it sound like Rafa does things no other top manager does, like losing money on the odd signing.
