**** him anyway, as far as I know he wanted out last Summer, looks to me like he doesn't want to be denied this time.

    Pathetic really.

The rumor has it that Riera has received two offers from Russian clubs where the transfer window is open until april 8th... Will suit his Russian wife well if he could end up there quickly...

      Rumor only so far...

        Strange one this.

One of our best players last year who played in almost every game. He then gets injured, comes back, plays well, gets injured, comes back, plays ****.

He then disappears for a while and then comes out with this interview, he's slapped another player and now apparently has a **** mentality and wants a move to Russia. Oh Alb

        Strange.

According to the echo he also struck a young member of the playing staff.

ALBERT RIERA’S Liverpool career could be over within weeks after he was suspended by the club following his astonishing verbal attack on Rafa Benitez.

The Reds winger has been told to stay away from Melwood until Monday after giving an interview to Spanish radio station Marca, in which he criticised Benitez’s preferred style of play and the lack of chances he has been afforded this season.

That outburst was the final straw for an enraged Benitez, as Riera was recently involved in a training ground bust-up with an unnamed young member of Liverpool’s squad that appalled witnesses to the incident.

Riera is understood to have landed at least one blow on the youngster.

The Spain international’s attitude has been poor for weeks in training and he has hardly figured in the squad since a desperate personal performance in the 1-0 win over Unirea Urziceni last month.

Riera was not at Anfield last night, as Liverpool booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lille.

He has also been heavily fined for his comments and it is now inevitable that he will be jettisoned from Anfield, the only question is when he will be gone.

Yet, incredibly, that did not stop Riera airing his grievances once again last night, as he conducted another radio interview, this time with a different Spanish radio station.

He attempted to diffuse the situation between him and Benitez but, clearly, their relationship looks to have suffered irreparable damage.

“Benitez has said nothing to me,” Riera said. “I don’t want a war with the manager but at the same time I am not to blame. I am a player and I have to play.

“We have spoken a lot in the last two years. But about this? No we have not spoken about it all. I played all of last year, and sometimes when I did not play well in one game, I would play in the next.

“But this year I have not played at all, and I do not know why. When that starts happening, you have to assume it is personal, rather than professional.

“I believe that in these situations it is better to talk to try to fix it, or at least to make sure you know everyone’s position.

“I have no problem talking to people. The most important thing is the best thing for the club. I am not interested in the slightest in Rafa being my enemy, totally the opposite.

“I do not want to create trouble, but in this situation I have little chance of going to the World Cup. I am trying to solve the problem so I at least have a small chance.”
          Really?

So he's started whacking other members of the playing staff to hurry along his exit. Let's hope he tries it on Carra next, it'll be nice to see him [Riera] sporting a shiner at LJL airport

He smacked Pacheco in training a couple of months ago and got sent home. He's clearly a prick. Smacking a four foot nowt little dude like Pacheco is tantamount to hitting women.

It's a shame because he was tantalisingly close to being a really good player for us. But another one bites the dust and hopefully we can put the money towards an upgrade.

I liked Riera. He's clearly a talented player. He's a regular for Spain and you don't get in that side if you're a mug. Real pity it's not worked out but he's only got himself to blame. Surely we could get £10m for him.

nowt wrong with that.......so long as they throw the first puch then its fair game to hit back.

Nothing strange about it, he's an absolute arse in training, probably explains why he could hardly play a full 90 mins of football. Rafa probably sick of his attitude and dropped him. Russian clubs can still sign players so you can see him wanting to get out quickly and get some playing time before the world cup.

£8million is the asking price for Reira..............Riera could leave Anfield in weeks, with an immediate move to CSKA Moscow or Spartak Moscow, who are tracking the 27-year-old, a distinct possibility. The transfer window in Russia has been extended until April 8.

I'm tempted to say that if he's prepared to risk ****ing up our chances last night with his ridiculous outburst we should say...**** you and your Spain chances...your staying..and playing in the reserves...either that or you don't get paid.

But the best way to deal with it is what's best for the club...best price we can get and the right time to sell.

I'm pretty sure we have very limited rights to fine him due to PL rules. Also we don't have the money to turn down the chance to sell him on if we get a good offer. If he isn't going to play we have to sell him anything else is cutting off our nose to spite our face.

Has he not already been fined £80,000 ?

Edit. yes he's been fined apparently, transfer listed too...and it looks like it was maybe being attacked by a big flightless bird that initally upset him....i mean, how is that Rafa's fault ? (some will find a way to blame him though i'm sure)

Riera, who will also be fined, has infuriated Benitez with the timing and contents of an interview with a Spanish radio station, in which he claimed he had been ostracised, accused his fellow-Spaniard of lacking communication skills and described Liverpool as 'a sinking ship'.
