yeah it's a tricky one, although arsenal a still in with a shout. it all depends on the teams around us and them loosing points, but i'd much rather we finish 4th a grant utd. the title if it means it saves the club financaily(well at least untill next season).

your dreaming if you think we can even get near 70pts never mind spurs, city (who are 2up at the moment)and villa all dropping enough points for us to get 4th.we will be lucky to get 6th

hmmmm i genuinely think that if we play like that for the rest of the season, then we can finish 4th.....

spurs were so ****in flukely yesterday it's not even funny - how fuller didn't score a hattrick is beyond me...... the have manU, chelsea and arsenal all in april - and also have man city in may - they will be ****in haunted to get 6 points out of those 4 games....... more likely 1 or 3 i reckon.... plus seeing their defenders fight amongst themselves yesterday, tied in with injuries to defoe and lennon, then they will struggle to finish 4th i reckon.....

man city - they are so inconsistant it's not even funny. They have to play ManU, spurs and arsenal - hardly 9 points guaranteed. And they need to play villa. Plus they are always likely to **** it up against the likes of bolton.....

villa, hmmm drawing 2-2 at home to wolves is hardly the form that will take them to the champions league..... they need to play chelsea, man city and a tricky match against everton. Add to that a birmingham derby and things don't look too easy for them.... Throw in a FA Cup semi against chelsea, that will hopefully go to extra time, then they too could be ****ed......

Liverpool? We play chelsea at home (in our last home game of the season) and birmingham away. These are the only 2 games i can see us POTENTIALLY losing points. Even then i reckon birmingham are on a downer after their great efforts this season with a small squad. We do go away to birmingham 3 days after being away to benfica though, which could be crucial. Apart from that, we have sunderland at home, fulham at home, west ham at home, burnley away (who could be relegated by then) and hull away on the last day (who could also be relegated by then)

I fully expect us to get 4th to be honest. Our rivals will take points off each other. We are getting better and better and although this has been a cock of a season, we can still qualify for next season's CL and also possibly win the Europa cup. If we come out the other side of this season with that, then it will give us something to build on....... wouldn't it be ****in brilliant to finish this season - our worst in years - and still go and win the european super cup in august (hopefully not against Man United)

this is not a time for the fans to be so ****ing negative.

If torres gets injured again this season, then we could be ****ed. But right now, the fans need to get fully behind the team. The time for being negative will be during the summer IF we do finish badly. But until then, we should march through the ****in storm and hold our heads up high.......

Getting back to todays game, let's be honest, to win or even draw at old trafford, you need pretty much every player to play well and even then you need the ref to play well as well. Howard Webb was a ****in jokeshop today. He really was and it is ****in embarrassing that the premier league is the richest league in the ****in world and he is the ref from the PL that is going to the world cup. English refs really are a ****in joke. If i was a bookie, i'd love to offer the special bet of who would last longer in the world cup - england or Howard ****in Webb......

How(ard) the **** wasn't Neville booked for that stupid ****in challenge on Maxi? Jesus chirst.....

How(ard) the **** was it a penalty? It was well outside the box.... although his linesman could have helped there....

What really took the piss though was on the 80th minute, Ronney dived over a challenge he anticipated but wasn't made. Rooney got up striaght away because i reckon he thought he would be booked. Rooney put his hand up and apologised to the ref.... and Webb still gave him the free kick. Rooney was ****in embarrassed walking away. What a **** ref that is - giving a free kick even though the player admitted diving - ****in brilliant howard. What a ****in jokeshop.....

I reckon if that stupid baldy cunt of a ref didn't **** it up with the spot-kick, then we could have controlled the game and possibly played our A-game which would have been hitting them on the counter-attack with a solid defensive unit..... we could have won the game.....

To the people that say rafa is to blame for today's defeat......... how can rafa legislate for having a truly utter ****e referee?

Also, one more thing, Michael Owen is a cunt. He's ****in dead to me. I could understand him going to United because it gave him a chance to play for a huge club as opposed to joining Hull or Wigan. But for him to go on Sky and so obviously support United was a ****in joke. What a cunt. I really hope that he breaks both of his legs in his comeback game and never walks again - let alone plays... prick....

so you don't think 72 points is good enough to finish 4th this season???

It's a great post mate, but it's genuinely depressing that we're talking up our chances of finishing fourth.
            Really?

maybe w should just forget the whole thing so and all follow the Liverpool FC car racing ****e.......

there is no arguing that this season has been ****e. But let's be honest, the amount of ****in injuries this season meant that we were always up against it.

We need to get behind the team.

If we finish 4th and win the europa league, then that will have been a good finish to a **** season. It will also give us a platform to kick on next season.

We are still close to being a very very very good team.

Look at arsenal, we need to support the manager, support the team and with a little bit of luck with injuries, and one or two more players, we will get it right.....

i thought we started well and until insuas **** up were the more comfortable team. once they scored we lost our heads and several of our so called players lost belief.

insua was a fault for both goals and its obvious why rafa wastes a left midfielder player protecting him. what i dont understand is why he's still in the team because he is a liability.

it would be interesting to know how many goals he's been at fault for this season.

but our biggest culprit was our skipper who is in the team on reputation alone. he was ****ing awful again today and if he was anyone else (bar lucas, kuyt and insua) he wouldnt be in the side.

its getting harder and harder coming up with excuses for gerrards poor form.

as for the plus points i thought maxi was good, carra and agger solid, pepe has once again outlined why he is the best keeper in the world and masher was very good too.

4th is gone, we have to make some tough decisions at the end of this season.

Best we have due to the weak team we have, really should have signed someone with Dossena leaving but with not having any money we couldnt
Could tell Rafa was gutted when Aurelio got injured again by the interview he put out.

Agree with Insua being a liability. We were so predictable today and have been all season. Gerrard was pathetic again today, he just looks like a crap footballer, whats his problem?

4th place has gone and now we need to look at next season. if torres must be sacrificed to rebuild the team then so be it.

by the way i would also show gerrard the door because im ****ing sick of him and his poor attitude. one thing is not getting on with the manager but its another thing letting the shirt he wears and the fans down.

nowhere near good enough. he has to remember he's played in worse liverpool sides than this.

We are about as predictable as a james Cameron movie! Gerrard should be stripped of the captaincy as he clearly is not leading the squad and is playing like it doesn't matter. Time for a new manager and captain in the summer.

he needs to **** off to ac milan and join the other over the hill overpaid prima donnas.

he really needs to take a good look at himself.

his problem is possibly he is so ****in frustrated because he can't find any form since his injury and maybe he realises that he is on the way downhill

a big decision could be to sell him this summer......especially if there was a stupid offer of 50m from real madrid / man city

I'm ****ing fuming with that performance. Started well and downhill from there. If any of you need proof that the manager needs to go then that is it.

We sat back and left Torres isolated in the second half and invited them on to us. That tactic is suicide against united. Only in the 70th minute did our negative manager make changes and still we had three centre mids at the end. What about some support for Torres, Rafa???? He's is so negative it hurts. It was so obvious we were going to concede in the second half the way we were set up. This hoofing long balls to Torres is pointless.

As for performances Mascherano, Johnson, Gerrard, Lucas and Kuyt need to have a serious look at themselves.

Not only did we just give up 4th, we have helped united along in the quest for 19. We lost because of effort and tactics and that is Rafa's fault.
