I was wondering about Kelly as a left back option actually...we need to change it because Insua's costing us big time.

I am still struggling to get over how ****e we were in that 2nd half.

This was probably the single biggest game we have had for a few years. We could have halted the mancs getting the title and also propelled oursellves into challenging for 4th.

And i so nothing, **** all.

It hurts but we seem to know what is coming and do **** all to change it. I along with a million and 1 reds out there said before the game it was the valencia v insua match up that would cost us the game.....quelle surprise so it did. ****ing shambles.

insua is prob to blame if you will for the cross leading to the goal and he did get ran ragged a few times ( i also blame maxi for being non-existent for most of the match ) but insua was night and day better than johnson down the right. he was ****ing tripe yesterday.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Rafa Rafa Rafa...why oh why, didnt you say this BEFORE the game??!

of their touchline exchange, Benitez added: "When you have different opinions you have to express them. He [Ferguson] has his own opinion about everything."

Despite his grievances about the penalty, Benitez did not feel Webb was affected by Ferguson's pre-match suggestion that Liverpool benefit from many refereeing decisions that other sides do not.

"Some decisions in the past have not been the best for us but I consider Howard Webb a good referee," commented Benitez.

"The referees are professional. We know the influence of Sir Alex in everything but he is a good referee."

Badly torn as I am I think that's about as close to how I feel as it gets.

Must have been pretty depressed this morning when I posted that thought but, it's more one to bury than share

Also the main consideration with penalties (again just my opinion) is the question - would we have wanted one given to us for the same situation? I'd hazard a guess that 99% of posters on here would want a penalty for an identical incident but find it easy to blame the ref.

Mascherano seems to have avoided all criticisism on here, he is the captain of his country, an experienced player yet tugs away at Valencia just after we have scored when Carra is coming across which would have forced Valencia to shoot at the near post.
It was also Mascherano that let Park run off him then got caught ball watching and attracted to the near post instead of trying to get back in and pick him up.
How many gilt edged chances did Utd miss?? none that I can remember, we missed 2 in the same move when Torres should have scored and from his mis hit Benayoun should have done better from 6 yards.

Surely no-one expected us to dominate possession and chances when playing at OT?? losing away to Man U isn't expected but it is explainable as they have been the dominant club for the past 20 years.
We went there after an important Thursday night game, they played the previous weekend so had a week to recover.
We need to win every game from now until the end of the season and see where we end up, today's defeat was our 10th in the PL this season, the other 9 have been the problem.
If the referee and the linesman couldn't see if there was pulling in the box (but did see it outside the box) then they have to give a freekick, because they can't give a decision they haven't seen. For me the referee's performance was awful not just for this incident but his whole handling of the game.

I agree that Mascherano has avoided alot of critisism for the incident, but it was a stupid foul regardless of where it occured, I also can't help but feel if certain other players had committed the foul they'd have been slaughtered.

Ultimately I feel we put in a decent performance and were unlucky, we probably created as many clear cut chances as they but didn't take them, on another day Torres could have had a hat trick
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Not to mention Maxi getting his head nearly kicked off and Webb giving nothing.

Cheated out of it, we were.
You hardly ever see those fouls given though, also Carragher was holding him as well. What annoyed me about the ref was the inconsistency, Nani's two footed lunge and Neville's kick to Maxi's head didn't even get given as fouls, never mind getting cards, Fletcher kicking out at Kuyt also went unpunished, whilst Torres was booked for a nothing challenge, (I think someone mentioned at the time he was moaning to the ref and that may have been why he was booked, but again Rooney was far worse and got away with it).

Can Agger play left back? I've seen numerous times people suggesting he play there, but he's never played there for us, has he played there in the past?

Did I not say in the build-up thread that we would be too cautious, sit back and just invite pressure and then lose by 1 goal? We are so ****ing predictable.

And Webb is a ****ing cunt

Which is exactly how we played last year in the 4-1 win.
We got an early goal this time and would have picked them off on the break but the fact they equalised so quickly changed everything

And the other thing when you watch it again is what the **** is Agger doing?? he actually moves his body position to allow Valencia to take him inside and drive into the box, why didn't Agger move inside to show Valencia wide? it would have at least gave us the opportunity to defend the cross

Last year has nothing to do with this year. Im sick of hearing about last ****ing year. Last year we were playing with confidence, this year we are complete the opposite. We can't defend for **** this season, just about every team we have tried to sit back and defend against this season has broken though.

We had some momentum going this week with 7 goals scored and rather than being positive and building on it we went there and let them ****ing dictate us.

Spot on. We needed to stay compact for 15 or 20 mins after we scored and that would've frustrated them and the crowd. The gameplan wasnt a problem in itself, but it relied on us not going behind and not conceding soon after scoring - which thanks to Webb the corrupt idiot, we did.

But that's exactly why we were never going to go and attack them in their own back yard.
