            FFS Blackburn equalised.
Do me a favour. Man U are Shrek and ten scufflers. Who are these "too many people that worried us"? A penalty and a rebound being the only worries we had in the first half, Reina being completely unemployed apart from them, the goal itself and a couple of nothing efforts that were never going to trouble stats compilers in the second half.

It's the fact that they are so ordinary, created so little to trouble us and we still lost that gets me

Gotta say, i dont see all these matchwinning threats in their side. Before the game, i was worried about Rooney and nobody else.

Valencia's hit and miss at best, and were Insua not hopelessly naive and poor, Valencia wouldnt have done anything. Aurelio or Arbeloa would've had him in his pocket. Nani did **** all really and at no point did Carrick or Fletcher unsettle me. Park? Well how many of us rushed down the bookies to back him as a goalscorer? Didnt think so.

They're a functional team that plays to it's strengths and relies on it's one truely world class attacking threat to win them games. It's a ****ing insult to their sides of true attacking threat, with players who'd pile foward at pace and scare the **** out of defenders. People like Giggs in his pomp, Kanchelskis, Cantona, Beckham with his delivery, Keane with his drive and power, and more recently Ronaldo.

The current lineup of their's is nowhere near some of their past teams, and it'll truely be an insult and a measure of how poor this league's been this year, if they ****ing win it.

Also the main consideration with penalties (again just my opinion) is the question - would we have wanted one given to us for the same situation? I'd hazard a guess that 99% of posters on here would want a penalty for an identical incident but find it easy to blame the ref.

Mascherano seems to have avoided all criticisism on here, he is the captain of his country, an experienced player yet tugs away at Valencia just after we have scored when Carra is coming across which would have forced Valencia to shoot at the near post.
It was also Mascherano that let Park run off him then got caught ball watching and attracted to the near post instead of trying to get back in and pick him up.
How many gilt edged chances did Utd miss?? none that I can remember, we missed 2 in the same move when Torres should have scored and from his mis hit Benayoun should have done better from 6 yards.

Surely no-one expected us to dominate possession and chances when playing at OT?? losing away to Man U isn't expected but it is explainable as they have been the dominant club for the past 20 years.
We went there after an important Thursday night game, they played the previous weekend so had a week to recover.
We need to win every game from now until the end of the season and see where we end up, today's defeat was our 10th in the PL this season, the other 9 have been the problem.
Your first paragraph explains exactly why it wasn't a penalty. If the referee and linesman couldn't see where the pulling stopped they sure as hell could see where it started. A foul is given where the foul occurred and nowhere else, certainly not at the place where a player eventually falls.

If the officials aren't sure of the facts then they cannot give a foul/penalty. It's really that simple

It was given at old trafford and it would have been given at anfield.

I also have to say this, in the past argentina produced some brilliant defenders but just recently there has been some utter ****e - colocinni, paletta, di michelis and now insua.

ive never known such crap to eminate from such a top country who's international sides have been built on giving absolutely nothing away. Yet here we are with a left back who cant defend at all. The boy knows absolutely nothing about defending and i dont even know why he's at left back.

Credit goes to maxi who shielded insua well but valencia ran at him twice and skinned him twice. I think Kelly deserves a go there but the decision to let go of arbeloa looks like a shocker.
It wasn't a decison to let Arbeloa go. He was about to be out of contract and wanted away. There was nothing we could do to stop him

Yes there was. He had another year left. I think the value of his contribution for another year, is greater than the £3m we got for him. Especially when we didnt even get to spend it.

                        Completely agree.

In the run up to the game I had no confidence whatsoever, but when the teams were named I looked at their rabble and thought, seriously, how can that lot beat us? I knew they would, but couldn't fathom how Rooney plus 10 decent players would beat us.

The depressing fact is, they punch miles above their collective weight and that's down to Ferguson and he gets all the credit.

The reverse is true of us, and that's exactly why we need a better manager, in a nutshell.

                              Yep.

Our XI yesterday, on paper at least (I know), was better than theirs FFS.

Theirs is such an uninspiring line up. Past it keeper, past it **** right back, a finished centre-half plus a good albeit overrated one, great left back, workmanlike midfield, average winger one side, dross on the other, average workmanlike support striker and a great centre forward.

And they're on course for the title mate. Why? You said it yourself. They punch above their weight. Why do they do it and we dont? I think, much as we dont want to believe it, we both know the answer.

Their manager actively seeks to do everything he can to win.

Ours would do, but is too afraid to lose.
