Begs the question. why do we not recognise talent early on and purchase talent early on? Ie Baines at Wigan.

Now, i know you can't buy every single young player that impresses at a Smaller Club, but Baines was always gonna be a class player and all the signs were there about 5 yrs ago. £6m Everton got him for

Suppose it's a matter of the scouts doing their job properly and spotting talent at all levels

I don't post very often but I saw the Leighton Baines thread and thought it was going to be about his transfer.....

Anyway I've a close friend who has a friend inside Anfield who says that Leighton Baines is a nailed on signing for us in the summer, along with 4 or 5 players from Spanish teams which are still being negotiated.. I was told this about 3 weeks ago and dismissed it but I heard it again yesterday..

Feel free to rip me apart now, I'm not particularly bothered, I don't ever get any inside information really but he's pretty sure on this one so I thought I'd post it...

Cheers, but the obvious problem is that Everton will do all they possibly can to avoid selling to us. Can't see it happening to be honest.

I do think he's a genuine target of ours by the way too.

The main reason is his stats are terrific: most assists from fullback, and he played every single game this season.

Those type of stats put you on Commoli's radar IMO.
