I guess Ferguson could have used it to his advantage. But they were pretty fired up prior to that. The wheels of Liverpools title challenge had already started to come off prior to then.

The Mancs had gone away to Brazil or something and came back in a stronger position because Liverpool had drawn too many games. The Mancs then proceeded to win games by 1-0, grinding them out despite being obviously tired and their for the taking.

The key was not going and winning the game that came after the PR, and then Macheda scoring in two consecutive games for the Mancs, the late winner v Villa and the deflected winner v Sunderland.

I remember Yossi getting that late winner v Fulham (why did Rafa never start him?) and thinking this could be our year. Then Macheda scored even later at OT the next day. Gutting.

I just happen to think that people who have been and done it at Liverpool are entitled to a bit more respect in leiu of the efforts they put in for the club. I don't agree with everything the ex reds tend to say, but I don't go round calling them clowns. Especially not the ones who did all they could for Liverpool FC when they put on the jersey.
