Its a nice theory. I personally think Rafa can win a league with a reasonably transfer kitty (he seemed to do okay at Valencia) but we'll never know now.

So what we're looking for is some sort of managerial genius who can with the league with minimal funds, when competing with other clubs either far ahead or spending heavily. I'm struggling here, any suggestions?

You are thick aren't you. Pathetic over simplification. Not only have we not had Chelsea's budget, we have not had United's, Arsenal's, Tottenham's, Villa's and City's. If you don't think that is a major factor then you are even thicker than I thought. A top of that, we have had to sell to buy, meaning that while we have a good first eleven, when haven't been able to bring in squad players. No, i think that when you have a very limited budget and various gaps to fill, you have to make the money stretch and obviously like all signings, your buys will be gambles.

You havent told me which brilliant players we should've got for £11m and £10m instead of those we did sign.

FFS I am sure clubs like Everton would kill for our so called minimal funds. It may not be great, but all I remember hearing from Rafa is I need more money, FFS if that is the only way he can win, than he won't get the job done, so he may as well go. When he had decent money to spend, even if he had to save up for it, he f'ed it up regardless in a lot of cases anyway.
