    Nail on head for me

Time and time again I watched us last season and thought "how can players this good, play so bad?" ('badly' Neil, I know, but it looks better like this)

Hodgson wasn't anywhere near my number one choice, but if he can get these players playing at a level that we know they can do, then I'll put away the razor for the time being

**** it, I'm going further. Roy will get these players motivated, they'll have nothing to worry about other than football, and we'll be in contention for 3rd come the end of the season.

Never rule out a U turn
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

I like what he's saying, that he's focused on football not finances. We're in **** regarding owners and debt we all know that, but maybe we need someone who'd concern himself with getting the best out of the players he has, and not spending his time concerning himself with what might have been if he had more funds to spend.

We have more than a decent squad, we have what 12 guys playing in the world cup, we have an experienced squad that by all accounts should finish 4th comfortably, and with a little tweak here and there maybe even challenge sporadicly for the title.

Maybe Roy will finaly be the manager who'll identify the problem areas we all see are there, and act accordinly to fix them. We need a new LB, LM and cover for Torres, well we could do with a bit more creativity in the team but the left back/lef mid positions are of primary concern imo.

Lets give the guy a chance to prove himself!

if the players play well this year is last season their fault or rafas?

not sure there is a right answer to that.

What I resent is not him (who wouldn't take the job?) but the fact that the Managing Director is spinning his appointment, and telling fans to get behind the manager as a way to silence deserving criticism of the way the club is being run into the ground. So, if you get behind the manager, it feels de facto that you're just doing what you're told and that you're obedient to the will of the Board.

Roy himself is not the problem and I hope he can deliver results on the pitch that take my mind off of the feeling that Management of Liverpool Football Club seem to be constantly lying to and manipulating the supporters. Nothing will erase the feeling of being lied to, but I feel softened toward Roy himself, who seems a decent guy who landed a dream job. Fair play to him; I hope he can deliver and I hope we are sold by August 31.

I just wish I didn't feel like everything Purslow and Broughton did and said was a condescending slap in the face to the history of the club and the people who want to see it competing for top players and honors.

looked on the bbc gossip page and not sure 15m will but the players Roy has idnetified.

just think it could have been 23m or more to rafa. or 20m to peligrini.

so a season of consolidation which is better than going backwards.

              Reece:

Do you have a message for the Liverpool supporters?

The message is thank-you for having me here. I'm really looking forward to working with your team and looking forward to getting your support, which I've seen so many times throughout the years. I said recently that this is one of those clubs where your motto 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is really lived by the fans. It's a club where you feel you're not alone. I shall need lots of help and lots of support and I sincerely hope you make sure I never walk alone. That would be my message. Help me to do a good job and I'll do my best to do it.

You have my full support Mr Hodgson.

I'm pretty sure that Roy was linked with us before Houllier took the job - I wonder if that will ever come out. Any way, I think he's a great bloke and as I've said elsewhere, although I have my doubts about him we could do much worse.

Besides I'm looking forward to changes in staff, formations and players ability.

I sympathise with Frenchie though, this appointment would have been unthinkable if we weren't in financial dire straits.

Another doubt I have is that I'm pretty sure Roy was wanting the England job - don't blame him just noted that he said this was the biggest job in CLUB football (well it isn't actually). I just don't think we should have been approaching a manager who was trying to hold out for another job.

Nevertheless. Roy has my support. If nothing else it wil be a relief from Rafa's dogmatic approach.
                        Really?

It was definitely mentioned in an article I've read over the last couple of days.

                            I like that thinking.

That press conference has left me feeling a bit optimistic. I thought Roy handled al questions with poise.

I liked the way Martin Broughton answered the questions regarding the takeover - very direct and assured. Dismissed all the speculations in the media regarding the take over and painted a picture of being in control. Either that or he is biggest bare faced liar ever to give a press conference.
