If we were sold as a billionaire play thing, maybe, but I don't think this is likely.
I think any serious investor would want to have confidence that he had a manager on the football side that would maximise the chances of getting to the CL. I'm not completely convinced by the 'wide consultation' but that might be personal prejudice I admit.

I'm not convinced of a direct correlation between ownership and his contact length either but I don't think the idea is entirely fanciful.

As for the bet, i'll go 50 he wont finish higher that Rafa did the season before last.

So many fans, blinded by one bad season.
Vermillion its more the fact that over the course of a year Rafa continually kept making bad mistakes and showed no sign of correcting them. Over the course of his tenure there was a feeling that he was always too stubborn to see the error in his ways.

There were no signs that Rafa was going to turn it around. HIS squad was not performing for him anymore and most of them just didn't look interested anymore. So he had to go

yes but it was one season.....not a small blip. time and time again we had turned the corner allegedly only to go back to ****e.

I would have expected more turmoil, more ****e football and Rafa sacked by october to be honest.

Saw nothing in that squad that thought they were playing for there manager. they lost faith.....we didnt just underperform last year, we were woeful!!! 19 defeats!!

thats more than a bad season

          agreed

is it also not now emerging that rafa didnt have the full support of the dressing room. what we suspected from some dross performances seems to have been the case. no excuse for the players and im in two minds as to whether i want them to clear off too but still, it means there'll be no repeat of 2nd place and 80+ points from Rafa.

I have seen nothing saying that Rafa didn't have support of the dressing room. I have seen Reina say that those claims were bollocks.

Not, it is just a bad season. We did improve after New Year. There were also lots of other factors that typically get oversimplified.

Other than Reina, no player has came out publically and said that they are sad to see him go or to even wish him well. You would have thought Carra or Gerrard atleast would have said something nice about him??

That says it all, I think they were relieved to see him gone because they were as frustrated with him as alot of the fans were

No, that is just jumping to conclusions and applying you projecting your opinion on the players.

Yes, much less defeats and some were we were unfortunate.
Stoke away - we were unlucky
City away is hardly a bad result
We absolutely dominated Fulham at Anfield
Benefica away was a joke, they were a disgrace
We missed sitters against Birmingham away

Again, how overly simplistically do you want to look at this?

We were garbage before the New Year and only slightly better afterwards. We all expected a big improvement after the New Year and it never came. Had we played even half decent after Xmas we would have walked away with 4th spot.

Here is a simple way to see how well we did. We won nothing and came 7th in the league. I don't think it gets more simple than that.

Getting people to look at things in depth is so much harder than it should be.

So you think we should simply look at it on a superficial level and not address other circumstances surrounding? OK.
