I don't think they are ****e together though, they have played together before and done well and it is not like we were brimming with other options is it.
Gerrard however was poor and we lacked balance in the midfield with out Riera or player to cover that position for him and on top of that the obvious lack of cover for Torres.
Not to mention our defence going completely out the window early in the season and the lack of confidence that instilled in the team.

i will concede that the team around them offered very little. but as a midfield duo it just never worked for me.

The Torres issue was stupid. How we could go into a season without cover is beyond me, but I would like to think the owners ****ed rafa over there.

I'm pretty sure they did as we were trying to get someone in and Rafa went for Jovanovic as soon as he could.

I know Jovanivic can play left mid but isnt he a proper striker? also I am sure we will buy another striker unles he converts kuyt back or tries babel

If 442 is played right we would not be over run in midfield.

We may do. We would also need a left winger with that formation and a lot of rigidity in the back four as 442 is not as good for attacking fullbacks.

Even if it is player "right" you are still likely to be outnumbered in midfield. It is not common amongst major teams for a reason.

well i dont think Hodgson's fulham particularly got over run and picked up sone great victories over some big sides last 2 seasons and as a very astute manager i am sure he will get the best out of our team

yes but then they were brilliant at home. I suppose when you have team such as fulham win the majority of home games and your safe so cncentrate on them. Hopefully we will be different we have to try and win all our games!!

Lots of people i've heard described them as boring, can't say i've watched them enough myself, but 'boring' is a word i've heard a lot since his appointment when the discussion has been about what he did with Fulham on average, obviously there has been the stand out games that had media attention towards the end of last season, but on average they say, under Hodgson the play has been boring and uninspiring.

well to be fair since roy has been there they havent really ever scored many goals and maybe there are boring but then they dont have players of the calibre of gerrard, torres, aquiliaini, rodriguez etc......I just hope he gives them a bit of freedom and from what i have read he will.

forgot about maxi lol. the team will be so better now that aquilani and maxi seem to be settled (fingers crossed/touch wood) with jovanovic in. we just need Turan and an experienced left back and we should be able to make the top 4!
