That's all well and good, but have you seen Anfield (as a district)?

There's no way all the locals who go regularly would be able to afford those sort of prices.

Maximise profit, yes but not by alienating the community and distancing the club from its core support and values.

Hence our ticket prices being low for a club of our stature. But they cannot stay permanently low, surely?

Well the club has lost me as a matching going fan and no doubt I will be replaced by some tit.

          Why are they a tit?

Because they earn more than you?

You give up a season ticket, and are unlikely to get one back. I am guessing that whomever replaces you will be very happy regardless of the price. Its still reasonably cheap, all things considered.

It's a significantly high increase, well above the standard rate of inflation.

They're taking the piss, mainly because they cannot afford to properly own us and their strategy involves making the fans pay off their loans.

They still have to be competitive enough to engage the local fanbase and get them into the ground.

Pricing out the regulars and locals, would be a disgrace.

its not good but as a business it does look like they can charge significantly more than they have done. I dont agree with it and the real reason is to service the loans but as a business it makes sense.

we cant have low prices and world class investment. unfortunately we wont have either but the point is still valid i think.

I don't think it will price them out, if i'm honest.

And i don't think it'll make a big dent in the loan debacle...for 18 home games it's gonna be under £5mill extra revenue...or less than Gerrard's yearly wage.

Wages go up, staff get paid more...ticket prices go up...it would happen under any owner i think.

Not by 18% or whatever it was.

5% would be fine, even upto 10% would just about be bordering on being acceptable.

I think the point Liverpool is trying to make is that some folks see going to a football match as fashionable. And are there to be seen/brag about being there instead of real fans who are there to support their team. I'm sure it's not gone unnoticed that the atmosphere at Anfield is not always as it used to be. I understand that people go to matches for the first time and may not know the songs etc but there are people who aren't real fans will never attempt to join in with supporting the team and even don't know the name of the players (as one once asked me who Riera was as he'd never heard off him!). These individuals, in my humble opinion, regardless of how much they earn or can should rightly be labelled tits.
This city has two great football teams – Liverpool and Liverpool reserves

18% equates to £6-7 pounds tho...a packet and a bit of fags, for a game every other week for 9 months...i'm sure the paying punter will find a way to manage that.

i think the 18% is a catch up when you look at other tickets. there will be large rises until they are about the same as other big clubs.

not happy about it but it makes financial sense.

oh and Craig re my earlier thread about not spending money on Liverpool it looks like you were very right. With these ticket rises the games will still be sold out

i still believe with a really well thought out campaign and the right people leading and being involved we could make a serious dent in the income.

I jsut dont know who the right people are.

                            You're missing the point entirely.

It doesnt matter if it's 'just' £6-£7, the point is it's a disproportionate increase in percentage and for some fans, it's difficult enough to find the money for a ticket already, let alone travel costs, food and drink, parking etc etc.

The point is, in a recession, an increase of 18% for something which is already very costly and exploitative, is completely out of sync with the environment that LFC's current consumer base are currently experiencing.

your right but they will get more money because of this.

You're also missing the point that year in, year out, we lose revenue and ground on the other clubs due to our low ticket prices.

Yes, it's a big increase, but it still leaves us cheaper than any other top four club, and so still losing ground.

It's a catch-22 situation really...pros to raising them and pros to leaving them as they are.
