Perhaps you dont realise it, but for some families, every pound is accounted for. It's easy to say it's only £6 and yes, for me, it's nothing, but for some, it can make a difference.

I still think your view might be different if it was something you were forking out on a weekly/fortnightly basis, for the best part of 10 months.
I dunno...i've always broken it down into weekly bitesize chunks...i get paid weekly, so it's easier that way...

Yes, to some it will make a difference, but the reality of the situation is prices can't remain low because some may not be able to afford it...sadly, that is the reality of it all.

I agree that it's the reality but it's really really poor. Lots of things are the reality, but that doesnt mean they're right.

If someone is scrapping for every pound, is buying a football ticket really a top priority...i know, football is life...but is it really?

i agree, its not right for the fans but for the business? thats a different question.

if we charged low prices and slipped down the leagues then would we be happy?

i agree the problem is that we are not at the top of the league and making huge signings. if we where it would be more palatable.

I didnt say 'scraping for every pound', i meant about assigning a certain level that you can budget for football, and that's it. You can possibly up that by a couple of quid a year perhaps.

What other product increases in price by 18% in a year?

            Petrol did...didn't stop us.

Pretty sure a lot of cheap food stuffs rise periodically over the years too...a can of sweetcorn at 30p only needs to jump to 36p and that's a 20% jump, but no one would bat an eyelid...

Problem is, football is a luxury item, so you will pay more...if you don't like it, you don't pay, and life goes on.

I used to attend a poker night, every week. Cost me a tenner in. But as i live on a strict budget, i had to give that up when other needs became pricier...love me poker, but it ain't the be all and end all.

You give up a season ticket, and are unlikely to get one back. I am guessing that whomever replaces you will be very happy regardless of the price. Its still reasonably cheap, all things considered.
Yes its because they earn more than me.

I dont have a season ticket, I pay £30 for the privilege of buying a ticket, get up at 8 spending hours on a phone costing about a fiver, then its the cost of a ticket.

And i don't think it'll make a big dent in the loan debacle...for 18 home games it's gonna be under £5mill extra revenue...or less than Gerrard's yearly wage.

Wages go up, staff get paid more...ticket prices go up...it would happen under any owner i think.
2 people on this thread from Liverpool have said there going to stop going the game so that theory is a bit ****.

Fans from poorer backgrounds on the whole make more noise.

there will be a price where the ground wont fill but they will maximise their income.

old toilet isnt full anymore but they take more money.

I think, for someone who might attend 10 or more home games per season, 18% will make a difference. Especially if it's someone who goes with their son, their mate, their brother etc, or if it's someone who has a family to support.

If you take £35 as a base price for last season, someone going to all home league games would spend £684. That goes up by 18% and becomes £807.

For a working class family, £123 is still a fair amount of money.

Going on the basis that many fans were only just able to manage to attend the games at last season's prices, 18% can make a major difference.

And i'd repeat my earlier question - what other products increase in price by 18% over the course of a year? It's a majorly disproportionate increase, compared to most products. Things tend to go up by about 5%-10% annually. 18% is very rare.
Your last point on the increase in price over a year is fair - I can probably think of a few examples - flights and the god awful council tax but apart from that not much else if I am honest.

I am not sure however what we've been like with regards the increase on tickets prices year on year vs. our peers - I would imagine behind who we would term our competitors in the league.

So as I said it's not good but it's going to happen - I am sure though as a club we won't loose our identity or that special atmosphere created at Anfield

i think the atmosphere has been lost to a certain extent.

the club still has an identity.

I do believe if we where winning trophies every year making big signings that most fans would still be happy .

we are not at that point though.

I think we live off past memories.

If you dropped someone with no knowledge of our great atmosphere into any home game last season they would laugh at you for sugguesting it.

agreed, there were far too many games where the fans, and I include myself, were just there going through the motions rather than supporting the team, although it does go both ways and when you're watching a game and the team don't look interested then it rubs off on the fans
