Has anyone noticed that we seem to be man marking at set pieces instead of zonal? In my view, if this continues it hink that would be a massive improvement on last season were we conceded to many goals from poor marking and players running in to zones attacking the ball.

Only at the start of the season, generally we had some of the best set piece defending in the league. There is a reason why most of the top teams mark zonally. In this game it is more likely due to the fact that we have a near entirely reserve team out.

i am pretty sure that we will still concede goals from man marking and i am sure Sky through the wonders of video technology will love telling us how good we were at zonal!

I agree to a point, we concedded 35 goals last season in the PL only 13 were scored from open play, the rest were scored from set pieces:

Open Play 13
Cross 11
Free Kick 3
Penalty 3
Corner 5

And on that basis i think zonal marking was to blame for a large amount of these, especially the 11 from corners.

Crosses not open play? Penalty don't really count in regards to marking.
And that says 5 from corners.
