Come on guys, it was one game. If Torres had played we'd have been baying for his blood to be sold. Torres is reknown for many sh*t games at the start of a season, specially after injury. I've still got hope for Ecclestone and Nemeth, under Roy they might finally get a chance to prove themselves.

I said I could **** through the eye of a needle

Seriously though what did Roy say?
Ha ha, I didn't realise that was in reply to my post (even though it was right after). Roy Evans kept banging on about how N'Gog didn't hold up the ball well, because he lost it on one occasion. Despite spending most of the match isolated up front on his own, I thought he made a nuisance of himself and looked dangerous most times he got the ball.
I thought you were asking about Hodgson's post match interview, hence the **** Degen joke, and didn't even catch on until I was about to refer to Evans again as Roy in an email there now.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Agree with all thatOriginally posted by RedReet View PostN'Gog- Very Good (Despite what Roy said).
Amoo- Looked Good.
Ayala/Kelly- Excellent.
Darby- Typical steady performance.
Jonjo - Extremely promising.
Degen- Truely shocking.
Match- See Degen
Lucas didn't do much, was solid enough though one stray pass aside
Gulacsi was better than I thought he'd be, not that he had much to do
Special mentions for Amoo and Ayala for me
Utter ****e of a game though, as expected
Cole and Jovanovic to play on Sat?I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Originally posted by Shaggy View PostYeah Gulacsi has turned into a bit of a beast. Looks a big strapping ****er and has been very commanding whenever I've seen him of late.
He's only 20 also. Admittedly I haven't seen much, but accordingly to Evans he was excellent at Tranmere. Although I just checked and he spent 3 weeks there?! Hardly time to prove his worth!!
If Diego is on the move, and I wouldn't blame him, then wouldn't mind seeing Gulacsi as reserve keeper, seeing as Pepe is never injured anyway.
I am touching wood right now
Not like that though, DanI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Ha.
I honestly think we could be letting Cavalieri move on and promoting one of the million youth keepers we signed in the last few years as no 2 anyway, I really wouldn't be all that more confident with him coming in should Reina ever be out for a sustained period than Gulacsi et al. Cavalieri's not bad, but nothing about him seems particularly good either.
Is that useless lump Itjande still on our books too?I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

I think Cavalieri was an unwise signing. To bring the lad all the way from South America... to sit on the bench, he's not even any good. How much was he? 2 million? It's not like he's an understudy who instils confidence. Might as well have just played some of the keepers on our books or looked closer to home for a back up.

And on that basis i think zonal marking was to blame for a large amount of these, especially the 11 from corners.
Surely crosses are from open play??
Surely if those figures are correct we only conceded 8 goals because of our defending at set-pieces. Crosses surely count as open play, and you don't get a chance to defend penalties. Given such a high proportion of goals are scored from set-pieces these days, I'd imagine that 8 goals from set pieces in 38 games is a good record, I haven't seen the stats but I wouldn't imagine many PL teams would concede less that that a season from set pieces. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he's a decent reserve keeper, obviously he's a step down in quality from Reina but that's inevitable, he's got some experience and he's been happy to sit on the bench for a couple of years and fortunately he's rarely been needed, when he's been called upon I can't recall any nightmare moments, (I can remember some with the likes of Carson, Kirkland and some of the others)Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostI think Cavalieri was an unwise signing. Interesting 42% of all Premier league goals come from set pieces (source) we have 23% of our goals conceded (with the 3rd best defence in the league) come from set pieces, stevesless, surely you can see that in fact, that is actually very good. You need to stop paying attention to Andy Gray's ignorance mate.Last edited by Mattshark; 22-07-10, 11:37 AM.
