If Roy does this then my support for him has gone before his first league match. what an absolute **** of a decision that is.Originally posted by PTP View PostIf however.....hodgson or the club, are seriously contemplating playing those 7 or 8 key players on a Thursday night in the middle of ****ing nowhere against some bunch of blurts, meaning that they won’t be fresh for one of the vital 38 league games the following Sunday – then yeah **** it i’d rather get knocked out now

I would imagine if Roy is getting any heat from owners or Purslow etc regarding expectations for next season, it must be to get back into CL football and **** everything else. No way is he going to stick Torres et al into the mix on a Thursday night in and play him in the prem on Saturday or Sunday.
And for myself, **** everything bar top 4 this season. Any cup - nice bonus, challlenge for a while even for the title and I'd be ecstatic but CL at all costs for 2011-2012.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

part of me thinks, that we are in a reasonable position -
Actually i’ll rephrase that.....we have a good opportunity to make the best out of a ****ty situation.
Putting a positive spin on the negatives.........we are broke, so can’t assemble a huge squad full of quality that is capable of competing in the league, europa and the fa and carling cups.....but it also means for the first time in a few years, we’re not even being talked about as contenders for top 4 let alone a title challenge, plus no major distractions from the champions league – expectation for us, for once, is low.
The pressure is off slightly. We still have half a dozen or so top class players......with the likes of reina, johnson, agger, carra, gerrard, cole and hopefully mascherano and torres – fill in the gaps with the reasonable squad players and promising youngsters and get the best out of them, and a bit of luck on the injury front then we are more than capable of competing with anyone over a 38 game season.......
This has to be the priority, if we get those key players playing in as many league games as possible, then we will suprise a few people i think. Thats why those players need to be fit and fresh for the 38 league games.
And then as i pointed out – we have a few young lads coming through that, until now it’s always been maybe a bit of a risk or a bit too soon to throw them in because we had title aspirations or champions league campaign.....now though, the expectations lower and as such the pressure off, we have a great opportunity, certainly with the europa, fa and carling cups – to give some good game time to Kelly, Wilson, Shelvey, Pacheco and maybe one or two others.
With the right planning and management – we could have a positive season*. It just comes down to what the plan is – if Hodgson and the board are expecting us to compete in both the league and europa and intend on using those 7 or 8 quality players as much as possible in both – it won’t happen. They will tire, burn out, and stumble into another 7th place league finish and get knocked out in the quarter finals of the Europa – whoopyde****ing doo
*for me.....i reckon we did the things i am suggesting, our top players are still good enough to get us back in the top 4 and champions league next season......and whats the worst that could happen – the youngsters and squadies play in the europa and cup games – getting say 8 to 15 games, where we assess and realise they ain’t up to it, or they do well, suprise a few people, get a run in one of the competitions, and we find we have 3 or 4 of them in a position to push for the first team.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Me too but to be honest I can't see the last paragragh happening which is why I'd rather we were out of it to remove the temptation of ****ing our league season up for that ****ty prize.Originally posted by Exiled_red View Post
I agree with all that
I'd be delighted if we did an Arsenal and started giving the fringe players a run in the lesser comps such as this.Maybe its the Rafa era that has me cynical cos i know he wouldn't have done it.hopefully Roy has a different outlook

aye - it's why virtually every post i do this summer mentions it in the hope that someone in the club notices it', thinks it a good idea, and it gets done hahaOriginally posted by PoolG View PostMe too but to be honest I can't see the last paragragh happening which is why I'd rather we were out of it to remove the temptation of ****ing our league season up for that ****ty prize.

with the second bit i've highlighted - again it's why i keep going on about it and couldn't agree more reference rafa-
not wishing to turn it into any kinda of rafa debate, but i really felt if rafa had stayed, then you could guarentee that regardless of who we were playing in the europa, and who we had the sunday, he'd be playing torres, agger, johnson, all vital players, all suffered with injuries arguebly because they have never recovered fully? - as much as i like rafa for some things, this is something i really don't want to see happen and part of why i was ok with him leaving.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
