i went to an "only the kop is open" youth match against boro ( which we lost ) and still wound up sat in the centenary. not sure who the old guy was i met in the parking lot, but he walked me right in to the stadium without paying or anything and then we sat in the centenary by ourselves and he sent me to get his tea. weird day.

          'How I scored like Maradona'
          16th Mar 2011 - [.tv]

As Pep Segura prepares to take charge of his first Barclays Premier Reserve League North clash against Arsenal this evening, we continue our series of second-string interviews with Michael Ngoo.

The towering striker has made a huge impression at U18 level after arriving at the Academy from Southend United back in 2009.

Earlier this year, the 18-year-old featured for the reserves as a late substitute in the Lancashire Senior Cup and Liverpool Senior Cup triumphs but saw his campaign interrupted by a cartilage tear in his knee that kept him out of action for three months.

He returned as a late substitute in the FA Youth Cup defeat against Manchester United and is now eager to make his mark in the run-in.

Here he tells us what went through his mind when he scored a Diego Maradona-esque goal against Stoke City, which reserve player is a fan of Westlife and why even a player like Lionel Messi can improve.

Stadium you'd love to play in?

The Bernabeu. It's a dream stadium and I'd love to play there one day with Liverpool. That would be fantastic. Maybe in the summer I'll take a trip out there and go on a stadium tour.

Which other team's results do you look out for?

Just Liverpool. Ever since I moved here the passion of the place has struck a real chord with me. There's a strong desire to be successful. When you look at Frank McParland, Kenny Dalglish and Pep Segura you can see that there are some great individuals involved. Obviously I look up to Kenny because he was a striker like I am. I'd love to be half as successful as him and it's something I aspire to.

          First football shirt owned?

It was an England top. It was ahead of the World Cup in 1998.

Who do you model your game on?

I look up to Thierry Henry. He has some great tricks and was a real dangerman during his time with Arsenal. He's a good role model for young kids. His movement and his hunger to score goals is something we can all look up to. If I can apply some of that to my game then hopefully I can be a good asset to Liverpool in the future.

          What are you main strengths?

I love having the ball at my feet. That's my main strength and I love beating players. I always look to bring others into play and try to get into the box as much as possible.

What's your favourite piece of skill?

I wouldn't say I have a favourite. I've got a few skills I like to use and I've got quick feet too. I only use them if I am in a particular situation where I think it will help me get out of a difficult position.

Best individual moment in a match?

That was against Stoke City last season. I had a real drive and determination to score that goal. We were on a good run and the manager gave a really inspiring team talk before the match. I was so determined to do well and I think that showed with that goal. I just kept running and beat a few players before tucking it home. I was really pleased with it.

It was a bit like Maradona's goal against England back in 1986...

Ha ha. Not really. That was in a World Cup game and mine was at U18 level. It was still a great feeling to score it though.

          Areas you can improve?

I can improve every aspect of my game. There is no such thing as a complete player. I've always been taught that and always believed in it. Even someone as brilliant as Lionel Messi can become a better player. He's the world's best but no-one is the perfect footballer.

          Last album downloaded?

It wasn't an album. I tend to download individual songs. The last one I bought was Adele 'Someone like you.' It's a beautiful song.

          Last film watched?

The new 'Big Momma' film. It's hilarious.

          Worst dresser?

(Laughs) That would be Jakub Sokolik.

          Worst taste in music?

Steven Irwin. He loves Westlife. He won't listen to anything else!

          Best mate in the squad?

Andre Wisdom. He's a good lad and we get on really well.

          Funniest teammate?

Toni Silva or Emmanuel Mendy. We've got a few characters but those two stand out.

Teammate who spends longest in the mirror?

Nathan Eccleston. He's on loan at Charlton at the moment so it's freed up some time in front of the mirror, ha ha.

          Most skilful teammate?

It's either Suso or Tom Ince. I play with Raheem Sterling in the U18s and I'd say he's up there with those two.

Best ever player in your position?

The Brazilian Ronaldo. He was an incredible player at his peak.

Best thing about playing for LFC?

The history and passion of this club is amazing. The way they try to develop you at the Academy makes you so hungry to make it at first-team level.

Jakub Sokolik thrilled with Liverpool chance

Liverpool defender Jakub Sokolik featured in their defeat to Blackpool reserves yesterday.

The Czech Republic youth international is making good progress through the Reds system.

"It's just amazing to be here," said Sokolik to liverpoolfc.tv.

"I have loved this club since I was this high (holds his hand by his knee). We've had some great Czech players like Vladimir Smicer, Milan Baros and Patrik Berger play for this club and I'd love to follow in their footsteps one day."

                From the offal:

                First Name Jakub
                Surname Sokolik
                D.O.B. 28 Aug 1993
                Country of Birth Czech Republic

Czech centre back Jakub Sokolik arrived at Anfield from Banik Ostrava in the 2009-10 season after being spotted by former Chief Scout Eduardo Macia.

He joined Banik Ostrava at the age of six and he is hoping one day to follow in the footsteps of Czech Republic Kop favourites Patrik Berger, Vladimir Smicer and Milan Baros and play for the first team.

He trains full time with the reserve team under the stewardship of John McMahon and he can also play for the U18s.

Sokolik made his reserve team debut in the mini-derby against Everton when he produced an excellent display when he came up against Victor Anichebe.

Can't say I've ever noticed him, despite this being his second year.

Just lost 2-1 at Arsenal. 1-0 down and Ince equalised in the 88th minute, only for them to win it from a corner in injury time.

Michael Ngoo struck a superb winner as Liverpool U18s bounced back from their FA Youth Cup disappointment with a 2-1 success at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

The towering striker came off the bench to net a fine second-half effort after Adam Morgan's opener had been cancelled out by the hosts.

Liverpool U18s: Stephens, Poor, Sama, McGiveron, Smith, Roddan, Adorjan, Coady, Sterling, Silva (Ngoo 60), Adorjan.

Amoo came off the bench in the 80th min for Hull. Doesn't seem to be getting much game time there. Unused sub last week I think it was.Still it's experience I suppose
