It is more important that they learn the technique and use of the ball.

Patrick Poor is a pretty unfortunate name for a footballer. Well, for anyone really

      He's Poor
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I look forward to a future MOTD where during the analysis they play a clip subtitled 'Poor goal'.

Up until that game the U18's had won 9 league games on the bounce...
The U16's have won 11 on the bounce...

The U18's were missing 5/6 players who are still on international duty v Forest and Coady is suspended.

Watched a bit of the victory shield last night.

England were 2-0 up at the start of the second half, only seen about up to 60 mins.

Turns out the lad who scored for England U16s before being subbed on 60minutes with injury, was a lad who plays for Liverpool. Big huge centre forward, and looks very good in the air. David Moli - anyone heard anything of him?

Watched a bit of it too but I've never heard of him either. So, we have Caroll, Ngoo and Moli on our books - we've got some big timber on our books now!!!!

he was the ypumg lad we got from luton a couple of years ago.....It was dalglish who recommended him after watching him play. A few clubs were interested and there was an illegal approach for him from one of the pl clubs to i think.

                            More disappointment for the reserves...

Liverpool Reserves are out of the Lancashire Senior Cup after losing 5-4 to Preston North End on penalties in the semi-final on Wednesday afternoon following a 1-1 draw at Deepdale.

A powerful 13th minute header from Paul Hayes put the Lilywhites in front, but the Reds soon restored parity with a swift counter-attack moments later. Suso's defence-splitting pass sent Toni Silva through on goal, who made no mistake with a composed finish.

Both sides pressed hard for the winning goal, but with the scores level after 90 minutes, it came down to penalties to separate the team - and Preston prevailed 5-4 on spot kicks.

The second string went into the contest at a rain-soaked Deepdale aiming to build upon their spirited second-half fight back against Everton in last week's pulsating mini-derby draw at Anfield.

The comeback gave Pep Segura's men confidence heading into the semi-final, as they aimed to secure a first win under the Spaniard's reign and set up a final with either Blackburn or Manchester United.

With 10 minutes gone, Silva fired the first meaningful effort of the game with a 25-yard strike that was well tipped over by Preston stopper Andreas Arestidou

The breakthrough came on 13 minutes when Parry's cross was met by Hayes, who guided his header past Martin Hansen to put the Lilywhites a goal to the good.

The lead lasted just six minutes, however, as the Reds grabbed an equaliser with a swift counter-attack. Collecting Hansen's throw out, Suso fed Silva with a perfectly weighted through ball and the Portuguese forward slotted coolly.

In an exciting opening, North End almost regained the lead after Hansen failed to make good contact with a punch, but John Flanagan spared the 'keeper's blushes with a clearance from under the crossbar.

As Liverpool started to press, Suso drifted inside two men before hitting a looping shot that deflected wide on with 38 minutes on the clock.

The watching Sammy Lee and Steve Clarke would surely have been impressed with the Spaniard, and he was in full-flow again two minutes later, beating his man before sending a dangerous low into the crowded penalty area.

With both teams searching for the lead, Parry almost found it when he jinked inside from the left and sent an effort whistling past Hansen's right-hand post just before the break.

Just after the restart, Paul Coutts went close with a 20-yard effort that was well saved by Hansen.

George Miller was next to try his luck, sending a left-footed attempt wide of the upright.

Liverpool had the ball in the back of the net on 67 minutes, but Scott Leather was relieved to see his own goal ruled out for an offside in the build-up, after he had turned substitute Henoc Mukendi's cross over the line.

As the rain tumbled down, Preston nearly grabbed the lead with 10 minutes left after Hayes poked a shot just wide the far post after some neat approach play.

The Reds would have gone home as finalists but for Danny Devine's superb goal-line clearance from Steven Irwin, after Silva's excellent back-heel sent Suso dancing down the touchline.

With the game in stoppage time, Suso sent a curling shot towards Arestidou's far corner, but the goalkeeper was equal to it.

The Preston stopper was called into action moments later as he beat away Irwin's low drive from ten yards out to leave the scoreline deadlocked after 90 minutes meaning the tie would be decided by penalty kicks.

And it was to be Flanagan and McGiveron who were left heartbroken after seeing their kicks saved by Arestidou as Preston booked a place in the final with a 5-4 shootout win.

Liverpoolfc.tv man of the match: Suso - By far Liverpool's most creative player. Looked dangerous in possession.

Liverpool Reserves: Hansen, Flanagan, Cooper, Mendy, McGiveron, Thomas, Suso, Roberts, Silva, Irwin, Hajdu (Mukendi 62). Subs: Kohlert, Bouzanis, Hatch, King.

                            Author: Paul Gorst at Deepdale
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Our U18s are playing the Mancs at Carrington, hoping to avenge the ridiculous defeat in the Cup recently.

                              1-0 up, Morgan (obviously)
