Well hopefully he can score a hat trick and come off afer an hour
I also would like to see him start the second half but I think Roy wants to put their defense under the pressure from the get-go in hopes of relieving some pressure from our last 4.

There is NO WAY we're starting Lucas and Gerrard alone against Yaya Toure, Garreth Barry and Nigel De Jong. I can't believe this is true. For me, it has to be Mascherano AND Poulsen with Gerrard in the hole, Kuyt and Jova out wide and Torres alone up top. If Mascher doesn't play, it will have to be Lucas then, but we need three in the middle against City.

HODGSON MAKES LATE CHANGE – TORRES AND NGOG BOTH START; MASCHERANO MISSES OUT

Monday, 23rd August 2010 · Share on Facebook
Roy Hodgson has made a late change to the Liverpool team that were set to face Manchester City tonight, with Christian Poulsen, Fabio Aurelio and Javier Mascherano all taken out of the team this morning.

Last night we confirmed that Liverpool’s starting eleven would be Pepe Reina in goal, Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel and Fabio Aurelio at the back.

Javier Mascherano and Christian Poulsen behind Dirk Kuyt, Steven Gerrard and Milan Jovanovic and Fernando Torres as the lone striker.

However, Daniel Agger has been given the nod by the Liverpool medical staff and has been included into the starting eleven in place of Fabio Aurelio.

Christian Poulsen has also been replaced by Lucas Leiva, and Javier Mascherano has been dropped with David Ngog in his place.

Liverpool will line up as a 4-4-2 against the Blues, with Pepe Reina in goal.

Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger for the back four.

Dirk Kuyt starts on the wing with Steven Gerrard and Lucas Leiva in the centre, next to Milan Jovanovic on the left.

David Ngog and Fernando Torres both start up front for the Reds.

Brad Jones, Ryan Babel, Fabio Aurelio, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Maxi Rodriguez, Christian Poulsen and Daniel Pacheco are on the bench.

Javier Mascherano hasn’t made the starting eleven or the bench.

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Kuyt, Gerrard, Lucas, Jovanovic, Ngog, Torres.

Subs: Jones, Babel, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos, Maxi, Poulsen, Pacheco.

I was surprised Roy brought Ngog on to play with Nando the other night - I'll be mega ****ing surprised if we start away at City with those two together. They don't strike me as a pair, not in the slightest. 4-4-2 would be a massive call.

Mistake. I hope it doesn't bite us.

definitely when you know they are going to pack the centre of midfield.

Totally agree, at home to Blackpool maybe but not away to city!
