I hate Sky because they're ****houses..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Somehow to me at least it seems like they (Sky) are being somewhat patronising and underhand with sly digs at the previous management. I know that to say we didn't have the best of seasons last year is an understatement, but it seems like they are give Rafa less credit than he's due and Roy more than he's due for what they've done at Liverpool. The direct comparisons sky have been making between the two have been silly. The pre match build up praising the system we used last night was well over the top.Originally posted by Scratch View PostMeh...now we hate Sky for liking us and our manager, whereas before we hated them for hating us and our manager. I think i prefer the former tho, less doom and gloom to get into the players' heads! The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

the pre match build up on formations was even more embarrassing, because it ended up being 100% wrong.

I caught a bit of the pre-match stuff but I switched over during half time and after the game, partly because I was fed up but mainly because I don't like hearing Sky talk sh*t, which they invariably do.Originally posted by Buzzo View Post

Was there the same collective amnesia there usually is when Andy Gray says something before the game that turns out to be demonstrably wrong?.

Don't disagree with any of that, but when Sky talk, the masses listen...the media, the fans, the opposition....the players? So if Sky are gonna paint us in a better light for a change, then i'm all for it. It may be more bull****, but it's less doom and gloom and more bloom so i will live with it for now.

Roy taking us to a more attacking 442 from Rafa's 4231 was touted as a masterstroke.
Man City's line up was being queried. Too defensive.
Andy Gray has a pathetic little bit of astro turf in the studio and he was getting Richard Keys to mark him (I kid you not) to show how he preferred to play against Zonal defense. I mean A. Andy Gray played in the 70's and 80's. And B. He was hardly Marco ****ing Van Basten.
They were saying Gerrard was back in his preferred roll of centre mid. Now this for me you can argue both ways, because Gerrard is that good he can play either roll. But in my opinion he occasionaly lacks discipline to be centre in a 4. And when he is centre mid he is miles away from Torres. To my mind the best football we played in about a decade and when we nearlly won the league 2 years ago was because of the relationship and goals Torres and Gerrard had playing up front together. Witha proper good 2 centre mids in Xabi and Mascha. Hard to believe it wasn't that long ago.
Basically SKY just stopped short of cracking open the champagene to celebrate Rafas departure a lack of respect and a total lack off class.Modifying post.

They were also saying that Gerrard had been played out of position for the last 2 or 3 years shifted about from position to position where he hadn't been able to influence the game as much.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostThey were saying Gerrard was back in his preferred roll of centre mid. The lowlight being the god awful astroturf "pitch".

Top class post. I entirely agree with you about Gerrard.
The only trouble is I saw most of that. It was the mid- and after-match coverage I didn't watch.

By the way, every now and then when I see your username I wonder whether you are actually an RAF pilot from WWII..

Sadly I agree. I just think Roy deserves a chance and I'd rather keep some modicum of optimism for the present. The disappointments of the future can wait.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI have a few fundamental issues with yesterday but maybe Roy has some mitigating circumstances (Mascherano ****ing around, players getting use to formation etc..)
However there was also some stuff that is / was just plain ****ing wrong in my book
But hey I'll sit back and watch how things unfold from here on in but frankly I'll be amazed if things are any different after 15-20 games"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Nope Buzzo. Taken from King Buzzo, lead singer and guitarist from the Melvins.
Doh!
After match I heard Andy Gray begin saying he thought we had been 'unlucky'... And I ended up being more taken by what was being written on here than listening to them. It was highly amusing and insightful reading everyones post match comments.Modifying post.
