For the record I was always behind Rafa My belief waned towards the end of last season but he deserved at least another season in my opinion

The last poll I bothered to show was 50/50. And that was when people actually thought we may still get 4th place.

And I showed it because every second post I see is someone saying we should never have let Rafa go, when over 1/3 of them have posted in a thread that they want him gone. It is ridiculous and I thought I'd just highlight how daft some people are.

I wanted him gone but only on condition we brought in a world class manager to replace him, as I rate Rafa highly.

Hindsight often allows people to change their mind on something. It doesn't necessarily make them daft.

Sadly world class managers are usually quite intelligent, and any soft **** with half a brain would've turned us down

That isn't a dig at Roy by the way

No, what makes them daft is claiming they backed Rafa all along. If people came out and admitted their mistakes then this forum would be so much easier on the eye for all concerned.

It would cut out so much mindless bickering. I guess i'm being daft myself as maybe the post (and thread) I did would only ever cause more argument. I was just annoyed I guess. Annoyed of people saying "I told you so" when in fact they told me the opposite and I backed Rafa and gave him more time than they ever did.

If you're bothering to post in here, why wouldn't you try to be civil? Makes absolutely no sense to try and reply to all 'negative' posts trying to prove your point, at times in an arrogant and condescending manner.
                  Are we winning?

Do you reckon Roy with that lead and the players at his disposal would have won number 19 that season?

                    Interesting.....

Points lost were due to Rafa, but points gained were not.

Is the league like this? In season start, all teams are given 114marks, everytimes manager made wrong decisions, marks are deduced.

Is this post aimed at Craig_H and Marsh
and if not, can it be?

Trouble is, I don't think that's feasible, for many reasons, not least because I am convinced he lost the dressing room last season.

I know that he had a lot on his plate with regard to battling with the board, and not having money to spend, but some of the performances last season were abject, and had the look of a team that did not want to play for their manager. I can't see him being welcomed back by the players, let alone the board.

Controversial view, possibly, but I can't see a way back.
Just because Roy is having a bad start does not make the decision to part company with Rafa any more right or wrong.

If we speculate that Rafa had indeed lost the dressing room, although, this was not clear, then I doubt that we would have been in a much better position except perhaps for the fact that Mascherano may not have left(although he never resigned under Rafa either).

/Personally I am begiining to think that putting Kenny in charge wouldnt have been such a bad idea especially as he created that wonderful team of 87/88, which I was so priviledged to see at close hand.
Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

Sadly I can’t see him ever returning, even under new owners. There’s too much history with the players, fans & media. Whilst I think it’s overstating things to say that he lost the dressing room, it wouldn’t surprise me if Gerrard’s petulant displays were in part a disagreement with Rafa. The fans would be very divided on a return- a fair amount would lay down the red carpet, but there are more than enough who would whine like bitches. The media of course would go mental, the derisory crackwhores.

I see people droning about Aqualani & Keane for £20m apiece. For a start off, neither were £20m, they were £17m & £19m respectively. Keane I think could’ve been a half-decent player for us, although not at such an inflated price, more like £12m, had he not had such a poor attitude & application. Of course, Rafa managed to limit losses to £3m, but that gets swept under the carpet, as too does the fact that he was never allowed to reinvest the money in a striker (reckon we’d have done a lot better had the reported offer for Tevez last year gone through, even without Xabi).

Aqualani was a mistake undoubtedly. Managers make them. For Aqualani, I raise you Veron. Unfortunately, unlike Funguscum, Rafa had no financial room- and ultimately now time- to manoeuvre.
                                3rd place. Worst champions ever.
