The big difference between Rafa and Roy is that Rafa always had an organized team on the pitch, not always balanced but it was organized. The players knew exactly what they should do.

Sometimes even to organized but the teams had to work their socks off to beat us. Now teams can just come to Anfield and dominate against us.

Roy don't seem to know how to organize the team at all. He plays a hoof ball system without a target man, how crazy is that?

We actually didn't lost two league games in a row the last seven months in the league last year because Rafa always had an organized team on the pitch.

When the opposition fear you then you know that you have a great team. Now even Blackpool know they have a chance to win against us at Anfield, a fair chance. They know that we are not that difficult to beat anymore.

I don't like Roy's quiet manner, i prefer a manager who shows emotion, thats just me but who am i to say what personality makes a good manager. Rafa just sat there with a poker face for every game, he showed a horrible lack of urgency and a negative approach even whilst knowing his team and players inside out and back to front, whereas Roy is just a blow in.

Its clear on here that the previous Rafa fans are ones most critical of Roy and that the previous Rafa critics are the ones defending Roy. I think thats very fair to say. People have there opinions and thats fair enough IMO, i have absolutely 100% no problem whatsoever with criticizing any LFC manager, after all we are the fans. But IMO i just don't feel its necessary to judge the man at this point, a few months down the line for me is proper order and by then if things aren't the way we want, well i literally will be whinging my ass off at Roy.
Yes Rafa had 6 years but going back to his first season even after 5 league games we were playing ok football and apart from rightback looking reasonably organised at the back

I remember early on in Rafas tenure putting West Brom to the sword at home Garcia got a couple and probably should have got more

We had to rely on a moment of genius from Torres to win that game this season

By now some of his ideas should be filtering through to pitch level

I just dont see it and if anything we have regressed further from a level considered not good enough last season

If it's as easy as you say and Roy can't do it then he shouldn't even be managing a semi-pro team by your reasoning. So how has he managed to bluff his way into winning (****e) leagues, international management, managing in Italy and the Premiership?

There's plenty to take him to task over and I'll admit that my own hopes seem to be unravelling more with every premiership game that passes but I think your criticism - despite being on the surface one of our problems - doesn't add up.
How has Allardyce managed to bluff his way into numerous jobs in the Premier League when his style of play and tactics are more suited to Rugby Super League

            Its hard to explain

I am just saying that those kind of fundamentals are something that when I played were easily transferred to the pitch

You worked on positions & shape in training and if you didnt follow those instructions you were ****ing bollocked by the coach and told to get back

I cant understand why a man of Roys experience isnt picking it up and or isnt addressing it

I must say I've been hugely surprised by Roy so far. I expected him to set his sides out as functional, disciplined, organised and willing to fight for possession

But none of that has been seen so far

henry winter's piece in saturday's times was quite interesting. apparently roy's first 14 games in charge at fulham brought just 2 wins and they dropped one league placing from where lawrie sanchez had been when he was sacked. then after that it was a different story. i didn't know he'd had such a rickety start at fulham.

If Rafa was still with us...

...would we be doing any better?

Despite my faltering faith in Roy, I think we wouldn't. There's a lot of totally correct stuff on here at the moment about how bad our performances - ignoring results - have been. But have we forgotten the awful lethargy and disillusionment that seemed to ooze out of the players last season?

I hate the general brainless ****e that the football media still seem to be obsessed with about Rafa but I think history will record him as a brilliant manager who took a group of players as far as he could by making them play far beyond themselves and got them to 2nd in the PL. But it was never going to go further. It's testament to him really despite whatever transfer and tactical mistakes he made. All great managers **** up some specific stuff.

Yes we would as wouldn't Championship standard players playing for us such as Poulsen and Konchesky.

Rafa did a good job last year considering the players we lost due to injury; given the same situation if we lost key players this year due to injury Roy would simply lose the plot and we would be as good as a relegation team.
