I think the fact that a vast majority are writing him off now is because he never had a real case to be our manager in the first place, he hadn't won anything of note even though he's had a long career, compared to for example Benitez, who had two La Liga and one European Cup add to that he was young and up and coming.

Hodgson is like going back 20 years in the past, with all its tactical rigidity (two banks of 4 or a pastiche of the fluid 4-2-3-1). As I've said in another post, he reminds me of Roy Evans. Good and personable fellow, but limited manager.
    Are we winning?

But at least Evans had us playing attacking and entertaining football - very much unlike Roy does atm.

but then again we havn't played attractive football since Evans...

I was referring to winning trophies. All we won under Evans was a League Cup. That team had the potential to win the league, but he failed.

ok, it seemed like you compared them as type of managers in the way the play because it was in a sentence of formations - but in terms of trophies sure

I just got nostalgic remembering the last time we played attacking football

I am not ****ing arsed about results

              I am bothered about performances

The performances are representative of Hodgsons tenure

              They are ****ing atrocious

If we were playing ok and not getting results I'd not be criticising him

Our football is a shambles, it really is. If Roy could at least get us playing with a bit more fluidity I would be delighted, despite the poor results.

I'd actually just settle for some passion, commitment and a slight modicum of organisation

I keep looking for something from the team, one of the ingredients needed but I dont see it

                    6 points out of a possible 18

Knocked out of the cup at home by a 4th division side

****e performances, odd tactics, no passion, no commitment etc....

A manager who seems to sit there and watches the world go by whilst his team surrender

No wonder the fans arent inspired they want a manager and a team who is willing to get into the trenches and fight alongside them not one who stands back and encourages you to walk towards the machine guns

Hodgson to me is getting everything he deserves so far (apart from the name calling which is out of order)

Also to me some of his interviews have been baffling and they have definitely curried no favour with the support. He'd have definitely been given some respect if he'd told the truth instead of spinning us a line. His dumming down of expectation is driving me mad and his descriptions of some of the atrocities on the pitch are delusional at best

It actually seems like decades since we had the "halcyon" days of negative but organised football under Benitez

Well said. The most interesting thing about getting a new manager is observing a change in style and mentality. And the change from Hodgson ranges from non-existent to worse.

Players look less confident then under Rafa, and while we didn't have much attacking spark under Rafa as well, we were at least organized to a degree as a team and defensively.

At the moment we are a shambles every where, and a manager is to blame for that.

And by November/December we'll be in an even worse situation.

However...back in the real world, there is no chnace at all that this board will sack Hodgson..not a chance in hell imo, untill the ownership is sorted...and while Purslow/Broughton remain..Roy is here to stay.

No doubt Rafa will be blamed for this

I have felt that the one ingredient lacking has been the ability of our team to play without fear, with self confidence. I know results breed confidence, but even when we have been doing quite well we just have never been fluid enough in our football IMO.
