If your whole philosophy is surrender possession and defend on the 18 yard box how can that breed confidenceOriginally posted by Tee View PostI have felt that the one ingredient lacking has been the ability of our team to play without fear, with self confidence. I know results breed confidence, but even when we have been doing quite well we just have never been fluid enough in our football IMO.
I find some of his tactics bewildering in the extreme
Hes encouraging us to stand off players and sit deep which only invites the opposition to knock crosses and balls into the box. Its not as if we are dominant in the air its probably one of our weaknessesBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. They are ****ing atrocious

The fact is we arent playing well AND we are not getting results3rd place. Worst champions ever.

The problem is that if Roy stay for say five, six more league games and we continue to drop points and play **** then we will be out of the CL race.
Then we will have no chance at all to keep hold of our best players. The next few games will be critical to the chance to keep our best players.
What we need is a manager that play positive attacking football so the players enjoy playing. Everyone can clearly see that the players isn't exactly that happy to play hoof ball a la Roy.
How many believe that Torres want to stay playing hoof ball a la Roy? How many believe that Gerrard want to stay and play.....you get the point.
Change style Roy or you will lose the dressing room. You won't have any other choice.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

At what point do you think it would be reasonable to make a judgement? I agree with the idea that it isn't quite enough as yet but the problem with football is that you don't really get the luxury of waiting to collect what is strictly speaking enough data. To some extent with this sort of decision you have to use intuition and subjective calls.Originally posted by alunevans View Posti know, it's still a snapshot though. it's not representative of anything yet.
My feeling is I'd give him 10 league games to make a judgement but given the points he has dropped we would need to see significant improvement in both performance and results. The thing is that even if I judge that he is not good enough I don't see a particularly attractive option out there to replace him mid way through a season. In the summer I think Kenny looked a better choice, with his time out of the game midseason would be a massive ask.
I can see Arns point but I have to say I really think we lack the depth for a challenge on 4th no matter what. I don't think that Roy has managed to find a first team that get his methods let alone have four or five players who could slot in if/when we have injuries."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Correct sir.Originally posted by Lecter View PostIts not 5 League game its 6
I have never resorted to name calling the only thing I have said was that his CV was not good enough for Liverpool and this is being clearly borne out so far with the results and performances
I've watched Liverpool since 76 and have had a season ticket from 77 through till 2006/2007
This is one of the worst sides I've seen and by far the worst performances and style of play I've seen
Its horrendous
My father inlaw sat through us getting relegated in the 50's and even hes said the football is not far off as bad as that
To me it has none of the qualities needed
Normally a team has one or more of the following
Hardworking
Passionate / Committed
Organised / Resilient
Disciplined
Attacking / flair
I dont see any of those qualities
It really is frightening

How long would you consider representative thoughOriginally posted by alunevans View Posti know, it's still a snapshot though. it's not representative of anything yet.
6 months, 12 months, 3 years!!
I dont think we can afford to give him too long because things have been so bad
The longer the poor form and poor results go on the more urgent it becomes to make a judgement on himBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

He has to get at least 9 points out of the next 12, which considering two of them are away (and bearing in mind Hodgsons Law*) if he doesnt then he doesnt have a leg to stand onOriginally posted by dww View PostAt what point do you think it would be reasonable to make a judgement? If he fails to win Saturday I'm tempted to say his position will become untennable

Probably not but we still have a chance if we get in a new manager that play attacking football and get a new owner.Originally posted by Lecter View PostWe aint making top 4 this season
We have the squad to at least challenge for a top four place. The next three, four weeks will be critical both on and off the pitch.Stop the cyberhate

i'd rather be arsed about results and couldnt give a **** if they were pretty wins or not.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

you've got that backwards.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostResults will come from good performances or at least they're a platform to build on. You can then target problem areas and invest accordingly.
So yeah, I want us to be like Arsenal too.
results is whats needed to build on. ghet confidence to win ugly then try getting the performance levels up.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

We are not getting the results either. It is not like we are expecting keeganesque attacking football. Unless we improve the way we play I don think we are going to get results.
