I've already said it before, but what concerns me is not the results but the way we are getting them. I didn't expect great results straight of, but I expected to see some convincing football and the team looking to dominate games.Originally posted by alunevans View Postdunno but he only won 1 in 7.
just pointing out that such a sample size is statistically insignificant and any manager can point to a run of games where you play crap and/or get nothing from a small run of games.
as such, any decisions based on this sample are pretty groundless.Forwards.......

Couldn't disagree more tbh. I'm failing to understand how a team with so many players on a top/international level can fail to hit each other on so many occasions. I really don't understand how we can be pressured to loose the ball as easily as we do considering the skills available in our team.Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postseriously?
we have been passing a hell of a lot better under roy. its been pleasing to see one touch football and midfielders wanting to get on the ball for a change. our style ( espoecially the stuff we play 442 - bar the citeh game ) has been much improved considering the negative football under rafa. we are miles away from being a finished product but the signs are good.
So far all I have seen is that we either a) hoof the ball upfield or b) make 2-3 passes and then the opposition gets a hold of it.
We are not playing well and our players are for some reason very stationary making small one time passes very difficult!

But again this doesnt take into account the performancesOriginally posted by alunevans View PostTo underline my point that 5 games means nothing and tells us nothing here are some results from 1988 (manager: Kenny Dalglish)
10th September, Aston Villa 1 Liverpool 1
17th September, Liverpool 1 Tottenham 1
24th September, Southampton 1 Liverpool 3
1st October, Liverpool 1 Newcastle 2
8th October, Luton 1 Liverpool 0
22nd October, Liverpool 0 Coventry 0
26th October, Notts Forest 2 Liverpool 1
That's the equivalent of 6pts from 7 matches. Clueless? Out of his depth? Or just a sample size that doesn't make any sense to make a judgement on?
The performances AND results have been ****ing shocking
In fact they have been ****ing dire
I keep saying the results wouldnt matter too much if we were seeing something to cling to
That was Roys best team on Saturday (I'd argue that agger should have been at centrehalf but ok)
Even then he sticks with 4-4-2 and plays Meireles wide right in that
FFS its not just one thing that is making peoples mind up about Hodgson its signings such as Konchesky, Poulsen & Jones. Its the poor performances, the poor results, the mystifying tactics, the lack of urgency and passion on the pitch, the stupid ****ing comments from the manager and his seeming trancelike state he goes into during 98% of the matchBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

i know mate, but whether it's results, or performances, or anything else you want to assess, it's statistically unsound to base it on a sample size so small.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI've already said it before, but what concerns me is not the results but the way we are getting them. Our passing has been ****ing atrocious so farOriginally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Posta lot of our players are not fit to wear the jersey true enough but thats not roys fault he has been left with a squad who have no passion etc... with what he has got he is doing the best he can. at least they are showing more bottle to come back from goals down than we did under rafa. there was nothing in any of the players last year.
In fact if anything a ploy seems to be that we surrender possession and let the opposition have it
I think I read somewhere over the weekend that Sunderland had 54% possession on Saturday. We were at ANFIELD. FFS even Northamption had 48% possession
In Paisleys day they'd have been grateful to get 4.8% possessionBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Different times. Different management structure. During those times, LFC fans had ultimate trust in the boot room. And that trust was earned, not some blind faith.Originally posted by alunevans View PostTo underline my point that 5 games means nothing and tells us nothing here are some results from 1988 (manager: Kenny Dalglish)

Also, if Capello Or Mourinho had come and gotten 6 points from 6 games, fans would give them more time. Simply because of the fact that they have delivered and shown in the past that they can get it right. If it was a young and promising manager, fans will give him more time because of the promise.
However, with Hodgson, the reaction of the fans to his appointment was indifference at best. His performance until now is only serving to validating the fans fears.
I am with you on the sentiment that we should give him more time. In fact I have posted in the last two weeks than we should wait for at least another 5 to 6 games or maybe till December at least. However, my faith is eroding fast with each game.

Statistics are keeping him in his job at the moment (the small sample size as you put it helps in that) but I'm fairly confident a larger sample size will show as worse a picture in 6 months time as you've shown just now and maybe it will help in showing people how wrong the board were in appointing him in the first place.Originally posted by alunevans View PostTo underline my point that 5 games means nothing and tells us nothing here are some results from 1988 (manager: Kenny Dalglish)

I wouldn't be happy though as we'd be in a deep mess but maybe that will lead to the revolution that we're all crying out for.Are we winning?

Dear jesusOriginally posted by Arn View PostRafa also left Roy with top class Academy. He could have saved £6m and played Shelvey instead.
Then used the £6m and sign a striker.
He could have acted in a better way when we tried to sell Masch. Instead he told one of the interested teams to more or less **** off. That left Barca as the only interested team. Great Roy, just great. A couple of millions more lost because you acted like an idiot. No bidding war.
He could have kept Insua instead of signing Konchesky. £5m more to sign a striker. Now he suddenly got £11m.
Roy only have himself to blame that he couldn't sign a striker, no one else.

its now 3 days since we played our last game and what is happening in this thread? people are getting more and more worked up over something that can't be addressed until thursday at the earliest ie our next game.
For all our 'woeful performances' but for Reina ****ing up in the first game and agger missing a sitter at the weekend we'd have 4 points more and very comfortable.
If whats going on here is replicated across our fanbase then its spell nothing but trouble. We know who wants him out and who never wanted him. Excellent. It achieves what exactly? We need every LFC fan throughout the world to be behind Roy. If he still comes up short then he'll be replaced but until then we need to support him and **** the rest of the world who love to see us fail.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

We were a couple of ifs away from winning the league about 16 months ago. A couple of months later lots of people badly wanted the manager sacked, you included, but "ifs" weren't entertained then so I don't see why they should be now.
And besides, Agger was flagged offside for that missed sitter.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
