**** me he's thick when it comes to this stuff, and just because a player is available..or not wanted by a club in january..it does not mean that player is not worth having..there are all sorts of reasons behind players leaving clubs in january..what if Torres left us Roy...would he be a player not worth bothering with just because it happens to be january!..one of only two ****in chances you have to improve the team all season!!

      Understatement of the year

Christ, this site has often been a knicker-wetting, pissy-fitting, mood-swinging playground after a particularly bad run of results (as at times last year under Rafa), but it's getting close to unreadable these days. Every single thread is overtaken by hysterical insults against Roy. To the extent that, for example, if Roy was to harmlessly comment on the launch of a new white away kit you'd get a succession of posts saying "yes, of course you'd like that you f***ing **** of a c*** of a f***er cause then you'll make us look like Fulham the way you and your **** c***sucking mates want us to. Why don't you resign now you f***ing c***stain of a man"

It's just getting tiresome. Can we just take it as read that the majority of people on here don't like the guy, and not turn every thread into a competition for who can think up the best new sweary insult to call a man who, regardless of the fact he looks out of his depth and is almost certainly not the man who will improve us, is trying his best and who is still our manager?

Criticise his woeful small-club mentality by all means, and his tactics, signings, and strange decisions and comments. I just don't think the personal **** is big, clever, or befitting of "the best fans in the world (TM)".

It's beyond a joke at this point. Everything he says is twisted to be interpreted as a slight against the club, the players, the fans, whereas if people actually watch the press conferences, he's just being somewhat honest in what he says in reply to specific questions. He has a lot to learn about being the manager of Liverpool granted, but I still think that much of this hatred has little to do with the man himself but rather many are still smarting from the removal of our last manager.

I don't want Roy to stay myself, but only for footballing reasons - I don't think his football reflects what we'd like to see at Liverpool, but I do not understand the level of hatred directed towards him. For me, he seems like a pretty nice bloke actually that is perhaps suffering under the intense pressure of the job. He wouldn't be the first liverpool manager to say questionable things to the press either.

In general I don't think there is any balance in the assessment of him at the moment.

Based on those results we (on average) should get ~16 points from those 9 games (5 wins and 1 draw, or 4 wins and 4 draws).

It's not just that, given recent results of the team and the fact that we desperately need points, saying winning 7 of those games is unrealistic doesn't do much for team confidence, and doesn't do much to reassure players that we will get better.

Also to put this in perspective, after the next 9 games we'll have played 18 games and be more or less at the mid point of the season, from our first 9 games we have 9 points, he is essentially saying that having 30 points by Christmas (after 18 games) is unrealistic!! ...admittedly if he is still in charge it is unlikely we'll be even close to that, but I don't want to hear the manager come out and say it.
Agree totally. I think realistically most people would say 5 wins and 2 or 3 draws from that run of games would be a very good return (Spurs, Chelsea and Villa will be tough, and Newcastle will be a tricky place to go too), but 7 wins should certainly not be a 'naive' expectation for a manager to ask for, and by saying it's a naive expectation he's just instilling a losers mentality. Stupid thing to say.

He has also said a lot of incredibly unintelligent and negative things that are insulting to the fans and players. The man is extremely ignorant.

He also has a generally poor record in England, he is simply an average low level manager in a job he is completely inept to do and the last time he had a team at the level we are at (Blackburn), he destroyed them too. The only difference is now the press are blaming his predecessor, not him.

I have absolutely no difficulty with anyone criticising his football mate, some of the stats make for shocking reading to be honest, especially the away record.

But as for some of the stuff he has said, i always find it interesting to see the reaction of people on the forums to things he has said, only to watch the actual press conference later and go 'oh hang on, that wasn't nearly as bad as was made out'. As far as I'm concerned Roy hasn't said much to offend me. The only issue I had with him was his comment about the fan movements (a group of people) to get rid of Hicks and Gillett, which was very misguided. Even at that he meant it was a distraction from the football, which i can understand, but he should not have said it, regardless of the context.

What offends me most is the use of Poulsen, and the defensive tactics.

They are not fools and are obviously biding their time and trying to be seen to do the right thing. We'll start to improve. We've too many good players not to. And what then? He gets to keep his job because of that? Wrong. He's still getting canned 'cos he's a ****ing **** man/ager. You all know it, I know it and most importantly 17 billionaires, who have literally decades of experience in hiring and firing people at the top level of business, know it. This is all about the timing. I've got total confidence in our owners to do the right thing. Even moreso after reading JH's latest quotes.
Took the words right out of my mouth... agree with you 1 billion % davy and have said as much in other threads. These are professional business people, winners and achievers in their own right..

They are still installing their team and once they have a fully functioning board and a CEO in place heads will role... and believe me Roy Hodgson will be one of the first to go..Of that there is not doubt..Why? because he does not fit the NESV profile at all.... WINNERS AND ACHIEVERS RH certainly is neither....

I find the fact that he signed Konchesky pretty offensive. The comments after the Everton game were offensive. Saying we are not capable of playing better than we did against Blackburn was offensive. His comments about spending were very offensive.

but i think thats the point, being at a big club requires a winning mentality becuase we dont expect a defeatist attitude......he maybe being realistic in some things he says, But i dont want to hear it........We are still a big club and he should treat us as such!!

When so many people all think the same thing..it's impossible to have balance..you cant make a ton weigh the same as an ounce on the scales i'm afraid...it's just that the massive percentage of opinion is against him and his methods, there can be no balance.

Was the fact Rafa signed Josemi offensive then? Or Dossena? Or Degen? Or Voronin?

Come on, that's not offensive. You could argue that it was mistaken, but not offensive. In fact, everything you've listed there is at worst ignorant and mistaken, but not offensive.

I can't speak for anyone else, but we're not used to being a 'small club'. It's irritating when the media stop taking us seriously, but infinitely more when our manager does so. I would never have believed that any Liverpool manager would be so defeatist, it doesn't reflect our team or our city. However mercenary some of our players may be I don't want to hear our manager talking as if we're some ****e club fortunate to be in the Premiership. I don't want to hear our manager accepting or encouraging mediocrity or our acceptance of it. Benitez wasn't perfect, but he was a fighter - Hodgson is a ****house. I can't stand the cowardice of the man. He does not represent the values I believe are integral to being the manager of our beloved club. Roy Hodgson is the most foreign manager we've ever had, he doesn't understand the psyche of this club and its supporters.
