We aren't moving in the right direction at all. Two good results, that's all it is. Same **** tactics, same **** use of Torres, one dimensional football - possession inside our own half with no adventure of going out and control the ball in the other side of the pitch, all closely associated with how Hodgson views the game - there's nothing which intimates progress, apart from the results but which doesn't reflect at all at the dire state we're in.Are we winning?

Not that tough, we nearly always win there.Originally posted by danperkins View PostI don't think we were lucky to win, it was anybody's game and we put a great move together and scored. We didn't play but we won. Great result but the performances can very much improve. Delighted at the result as its a tough place to go.

Wasn't a good performance but we definitely played better in attack than at the start of the season, especially in the second half.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostWe aren't moving in the right direction at all. Maybe they might have been harsh but they still could have been given so from that point of view we were lucky
I think the problem isnt Torres and Gerrard its the lack of support gettingup to those players they are far too isolated because our play is far too stretched and strung out
Our defence plays too deep, which pushes everyone further back, we don't press like we used to, I think if we held a higher line and pressed the ball/space further up the pitch we'd be more effective as players wouldn't have to run as far to get forward.
Also aside from Gerrard and Torres we don't have many other goal threats, Kuyt (who hasn't played much) and Cole could contribute more, but again they are more suited to starting further up the pitch. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

IF we had a decent manager would be the more accurate assessmentOriginally posted by Scratch View PostIf penalties had been given...if Torres had shown some nouse...if if if...tis easy to say and all that.
In previous games i would have agreed with your assesment of Torres and Gerrard, but yesterday Torres in particular was a waste, and Gerrard was none to efficient, and there were numbers there to support them, they just failed to utilise them.
We ain't playing pretty football, but we aren't as bad as we were earlier in the season. Not good enough by far, but thankfully moving in the right direction.
Dont see us moving anywhere
Football is still ****ibng ****e as are the tactics
Fortunate that both teams we have played recently have been dog awful

I'm watching the game fully now after seeing only glimpses yesterday.
Prior to the Bolton game I would have suggested to improve in January we needed to look at the back 4 and getting a quality holding mid in.
Against Bolton it really opened my eyes to how poor are Star players have been this year. Cole, Gerrard and Torres were very poor. If they started playing how they can we would be doing much better. I'm not impressed with Roy, but regardless of the manager if this current eleven is going to do anything those three need to buck their ideas up.
And if Cole doesn't improve prior to January, I'd be bringing someone in to take his place in the starting XI.Forwards.......

Players suited to play in attacking system. Play them in a Roy type of system and they won't deliver.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI'm watching the game fully now after seeing only glimpses yesterday.

Cole would probably be excellent in a Rafa 4-3-2-1 system. Just like Meireles. I have a feeling that it was Rafa that wanted Cole and Meireles and that Purslow still signed them even that we sacked Rafa and replaced him with Roy.
I doubt that Roy wanted Meireles. The comments he made after we signed him points to that.Stop the cyberhate

It's so easy to blame Roy for players not delivering but it's only plausible to a point. It doesn't matter how you're deployed, if the ball is at your feet in space and you repeatedly his a defender with a cross, as Cole has done recently, then this is an issue with the player, not the manager. Cole needs to get the bascis right before we can start thinking of him as a flair player, or someone to change a game.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years
