You dont get it, do you?

People dont say it about Rafa, because Rafa respected the club, the players and the fans. He didnt insult the fans or come out with confidence-denting ****e about his players.

Roy has done all of the above. Already. Just 3 months into his tenure.

You don't always have to play well or keep possession to win games, obviously you can't do this all of the time, that would be silly to say but when all is said and done the result is the most important thing.
Simple equation dan....good performances will equate to good results, more often than not.

Of course a side can play ****e and win, but over the course of the season, a side who plays well more often will get more points than a team who plays **** more often.

I think we all know Rafa was a very proud and stubborn man, if you say he did i believe you, but you'll find it hard to find more than one instances in 6 seasons.

Sure you'll rarely hear Fergie/Wenger etc admitting it was there fault either, well not to the media anyways.

I think the ereason for that is that there was (at least until last season) very little to criticise So therefore a lot more leeway was given, in Roy's case there has been quite a lot to criticise so it comes a lot easier

Roy has made mistakes that is clear. He has been under a hailstorm of abuse and pressure and has frustrated me hugely, whats wrong with giving him some credit and not abusing the guy who clearly is doing his best for the club. You nor i whats goes on behind closed doors either.

Its not personal that we have been ****e this season, i don't think Roy came in and said hang on, firstly i'll insult the fans and secondly i'll undermine the players and thirdly in my masterplan i'll sabotage the club!!! He didn't understand the institution the club is, he didn't get what it was all about, he just didn't get it, but he is learning and has showed improvement in his job, how he has gone about his job and what he is saying.

And to Lec, i never stated that Rafa said the same things as Roy, i said Rafa never admitted responsibility like Roy hasn't, was in response to your original post!!!! Probably best to read things properly before going off ranting, anyways end of, please don't reply

Under normal circumstances, if you sit back for 45 mins and invite chelsea onto you, they'd score. On another day, they would've had a fit drogba. On another day, Malouda's effort would go in and Pepe would've tipped Anelka's shot onto the underside of the bar, and into the net. Those small things went our way on the day, but it's not to be relied upon.

If you sit back for an entire 45 mins and invite a team onto you, you're asking for it. We got away with it yesterday, but we wont always.
Sure, when you're 0-0, or even 1-0. But at 2-0 you have that cushion. We fashioned some decent chances ourselves on the counter. Let's not forget that we *should* have had a penalty. Probably making it 3-0.

Sure Chelsea had some injury problems, but we were hardly coming into the match in optimum condition. An out of form Torres. Tough match on Thursday. Lost 2 (arguable) first team defenders in the build up to the game. And coming up against arguably the most in-form team in Europe.

It was a fantastic performance. And what makes it better is I honestly believe we deserved the win.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I think this is what a lot of fans especially the ones who support Rafa object to, I know I certainly do, a manager shouldn't come to Liverpool and then learn how to manage a big club.

I agree, i'm am not defending Roy in his LFC career thus far, he got off to a bad start and deserved criticism for it like any other manager would get.

But do you really think that Roy as current LFC manager meant to insult the fans? Seriously thats like inviting on a ****storm, i reckon he ****ed up under immense pressure and said some stupid ****. Seems to me with what he has been saying recently and his performances that he is learning on and off the pitch what it takes to manager a club like ours.

I am happy to give him credit for the last couple of weeks and long may it last. Do i think he is the answer to our problems? I'm not saying that but I think some people are seriously jumping the gun and are so committed in their opinions that its hard to backtrack, so they soldier on. I just feel the levels of abuse on here is just shocking, for a man that is currently our manager i just don't condone that stuff.

The Burnley game Benitez came out and made an admission that he hadnt been aware of how important the FA Cup was he made some comparison with one of the Spanish tournaments if I remember correctly and the spanish tournament he picked isnt that highly regarded

All through that first season the only thing I remember hearing from Rafa was that the team was only playing at 50-60% of what he wanted from it, he never referred to the previous manager at all and never bemoaned what he was left with

The funniest thing I find about the Roy / Rafa comparisons is if you looked at the two managers quotes (without actually knowing who they were from) and said one is English and one is foreign you'd more than likely pick out Roys quotes as being those of a foreigner

Despite being English, Roy is the most "foreign" coach we have had in terms of him understanding us and us understanding him

I give Roy more credit for the win against Blackburn than our win yesterday. In that game he set out the team to win the game.

Yesterday he set it out to maybe get a draw even that we had the better starting XI and should be able to boss the game. They missed some key players.

It would have been a difference if Lampard and Essien played. Then you would have understood his tactics.

Now he set it up Houllier style hoping that Torres would have a great day.

We do have a great starting XI and should be able to boss the game against every team in the league at home.

Yes Rafa has admitted mistakes in the past (see Burnley) and the argument was also that Rafa never slagged off a previous manager

See my previous posts - take a leaf out of your own book and read things properly before you start spouting ****e

You have a cushion, but the fact is that you're just 1 goal away from everything turning to panic and then being utterly bombarded. Chelsea could've scored at any point in the 2nd half, not through clear cut chances being created, granted. But at any point in a game, they are capable of putting a move together, getting a final ball right or one player producing a bit of magic for them.

Put it this way, at 2-0 up, the only time i would feel ok about us retreating to the edge of our own box against a side like Chelsea, would be from 75-80 mins onwards. Not for the whole 2nd period.
