You can add the way Gerrard played, or didn't play, last season. Making it more or less impossible for any manager to do a good job.

Surely you can read and digest a post without it having to be broken down in to itsy bitsy pieces. But ok

The Board and owners didn't like Rafa but

couldn't sack him because we were achieving steady and solid results so

the minute we failed to achieve the high standards of prior seasons they grabbed at the opportunity to sack him and said it was based on results (their justification) and

had we finished fourth they wouldn't have been able to regardless of what the players thought.

As for MY views on Rafa, I'm unsure. I thought he'd lost something last season and performances weren't good enough. I wasn't sure if he could turn it round and to be honest I was convinced Hicks would find a way to cling on do we'd never be able to rebuild the squad. However, I'd have never got rid to replace him with Roy. Ok?

And the irony was that you chose to post a comment having a pop at people from Newcastle... to someone from Newcastle. I'd normally say that was rather unfortunate and you didn't know but your 'thanks Christian' crack at the end of your last post just made me realise it probably wasn't accidental at all and your really just a bit of a dick. (unless your name's actually Christian in which case we've had a whole day of misunderstanding).

Hope that clears things up. Maybe take a second before you start typing in future eh?

As far as NESV go on this ... doing nothing about Roy now should not be an option. They may have only been here a month or so but they pride themselves on having a winning mentality. Roy Hodgeson does not have the same mentality as is evident in our play and results.
If NESV do not act now all their short term plans must be at risk ... a top 4 finish has to be the aim or player costs next summer will inclde a premium for not being in the champions league and that will go against one of their golden rules re 'wasting dollars' ..

As for Carra, great solid squad player in his career. There's a reason why he never really made England's first 11, and the sooner he actually comes down from that cloud he's made for himself, the better he'll be remembered. Put a sock in it Jamie, you don't know what you're ****ing talking about.
Its intersting reading the quotes compiled by Tompkins

With these quotes one thing stand s out. Roy massively over estimates the capacity of his opponents and under estimates the capacity of his own team in my view.

He states that mentally we were not up for the challenge a la the the last game yet he is hardly contributing to the necessary mental preparedness by staing how strong the likes of Stoke etc are.

Liverpool is a team with the best goalie in he league , the midfield of a brazillian international, a portuguese international an English legend and an argentine international, up fron there is the worlds best striker, and Dirk Kuyt, a dutch international that always gets picked.

back four of includes all internaltionals.

Now Stoke had Kenwyne Jones and a guy with really long throws...
and we got played totally off the park.

No one dare tell me this is down to either team building or a weak squad or anything else. Its called poor management.

Whilst in the Stoke thread I gave my opinion on why Roy will likely stay, that is not to say I have given up. This from Davd Usher on tlw:

              *
Apparently there is a meeting scheduled for early this week, although that could mean anything.* They may sack him, or they may opt to let it play out until the man they want is available.* We’ll see.

when you break it down like that it just shows that this situation is completly unacceptable.

making out the side is poor of quality is a crock of ****, it could do with strengthening granted but it's not that poor on top of that he's essentially admitting he can't motivate the boys - that to me is an admission of failure

Whenever he goes, he will be remembered as the worst LFC manager in the modern era!

                    Comment

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson insisted his side were not back to square one after their six-match unbeaten run came to an end.

Confidence was growing within the squad after four victories and two draws but it started to ebb away at Wigan in midweek when they were lucky to escape at 1-1.

And by the end of Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Stoke it appeared all the team's hard work in dragging themselves out of the relegation zone after a difficult start to the season had been undone.

However, Hodgson preferred to look on the performance at the Britannia Stadium as a blip and claimed his side were still heading in the right direction.

"I don't see why it should give us enormous reason to doubt what we are doing or doubt what we are capable of doing," he said.

"I don't expect this result to dent confidence any more than any bad result does or any end to a good run dents your confidence.

"We are talking about two or three games in a season. I find it hard to have to explain that every time you win a game things are flying forward and when you get a bad result they are flying backwards.

"I'm a 38-to-55-game-a-season man and I make my judgment over that period.

"I don't get euphoric when we play well against Chelsea and I certainly won't become anything other than realistic and determined to move on to the next step when we lose a game.

"The conclusions that are being attempted to be drawn are too big conclusions.

"We're realistic. We know we've still got some work to do, get some players back to fitness and work at our game.

"All you can do is work but unfortunately we won't have a lot of chance to work as some players are going away with their national team.

"The longer we work together the more the players become attuned to what we want from them.

"I don't think I need to fear one setback in six is going to throw us back into a bad situation."

Having performed so well in the first half against Chelsea a week ago, racing into a 2-0 lead, Liverpool appear to have gone backwards since re-emerging from the tunnel at Anfield that afternoon.

Carlo Ancelotti's side, as could be reasonably expected, dominated the remaining 45 minutes but after taking the lead against Wigan the Reds found themselves in a similar position and against Stoke they never at any point gained control of the game.

Having held out until the 56th minute they finally conceded when Rory Delap's throw caused just enough chaos in the penalty area for Ricardo Fuller to stab home from close range.

With the visitors pushing for an equaliser Kenwyne Jones made sure of the points in the final minute having been put through by former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant.

Lucas Leiva's red card for a second bookable offence after that just compounded their misery.

Statistics from the game showed Stoke had twice as much possession as their opponents and Hodgson admitted they struggled to get to grips with the pace of the game.

"I was disappointed with the lack of creativity for large periods but to do that we needed a bit more from our front players," he added.

"Most of the time the creativity comes on those occasions you get the ball down and play some football but for a lot of time it was in the air or being kicked out and then you have to deal with the re-start which ensues.

"We have had some good performances, it is the first game we have lost in six so I think that is pretty consistent."

By contrast, everything Liverpool did poorly, Stoke did well and manager Tony Pulis was delighted.

"I think we have created more opportunities and chances this year in every game we have played," he said.

"We've scored five goals in two home games and long may that continue. Fuller and Jones were a handful.

"The great thing about yesterday was were pretty expansive and created lot of chances but we kept a clean sheet."

However, despite moving up to 10th, a place above Liverpool on goal difference, he refused to read too much into the result.

"You get highs and lows. Everyone gets carried away with poor results and good results but as manager of this club you have to stay as level-headed as you can," he added.
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

its afe to say i was 100% behind roy at the start of the season. granted he wasnt my first choice but i gave him so long to get it right. i thought with the recent run he was turning a corner but after a truly ****ty perfromance against wigan where he was "happy with the defensive display" and an equally woeful turn out against stoke where he was "happy with the defensive display" my annoyance at him being gaffer is truning rapidly to downright ****ing hatred.

why why why why is he happy to be played off the pitch and happy to soak up attacking pressure from 2 clubs who are in the bottom 3 and will at the season end be fioghting relegation?????

**** OFF ROY!!! i dont want to see my team bullied by a small team. not once during the whole 90 mins yesteday did i even remotely beleive we would get anything from the game.

We know how that has turned out dont we.......

I am sure those players still wield influence over the current manager (to a certain degree) but I think that is where it ends

Their influence extends no further than that, and unfortunately for them the longer they keep faith in their choice of manager who has been emasculated by the owners / directors then the more it will be to their detriment

Carragher has drawn his line in the sand and chosen sides he will pay the price for that somewhere down the line
