I'm a massive Rafa supporter and never wanted him gone he's a world class manager in my opinion and I think he's a far superior manager to the Old Fart. However, I don't want Rafa back it's time to move on I've never been a fan of re-hiring managers I don't think it works.

There are some good managers out there, we just have to find the right fit not just one who is better Old Wrinkled Balls, Owen Coyle is an upgrade but not good enough for us.

Thanks for quoting those posts here Lecter. Those are excellent posts. Couple of more Newcastle away like performances and I think Rafa chants may slowly start.

I can't believe NESV can come out and offer Roy their complete backing. Leaving the other option, which is, well, who knows. But it has just got a hell of a lot more interesting.

If we were half as exciting on the pitch as we are off it we;d be ****ing dynamite.

One thing we can be certain of is that Rafa will be pressing for a meeting with the new owners- and if he gets it, he'll turn up with a headfull of facts and stats, a huge notebook and a load of DVDs.

Mark Lawrenson: Roy Hodgson must realise he is managing Liverpool FC
Dec 22 2010 Liverpool Daily Post

To realise that what works for one club can’t work for every club.

His away record as a club manager is pretty dismal but at Fulham that didn’t really matter.

He had a way of playing that got them results and their home form was so good everyone was happy.

But this is Liverpool now and no matter what anyone says, it is NOT just any club.

Expectations are different here and fans want to see a bit of adventure and try to win games on the road.

The signs were there at Tottenham and Newcastle – now it needs to reap rewards.

love the comment after this though -

Bit late isn't it Lawrenson? You've been singing this bloke's praises since he got the job, only now, when the damage has been done, do you try and salvage a bit of credibility for yourself. Hodgson has been totally useless since he arrived, and only makes matter worse the longer he hangs around. The vast majority of supporters sussed him out ages ago. How come you've taken so long?
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Why are there so many retired Liverpool players who don't rate and are so rude about Benitez? It mystifies me, it really does.

I can understand them being critical even though I might not agree with them but so many are dismissive and hostile.
I almost think that some ex players don't want us to succeed, this would not make them god like (in their minds) if a new breed of players started to win trophys. Lawrenson is a dick always has been and always will be.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

That's basically what i was saying, though you may have missed the point.

Despite what SG says publicly, there's no way he can genuinely back Hodgson, in his heart of hearts. Even if he DOES tow the party line, in public.

This is a good point in my view. NESV seem to want a collegiate approach to bringing in new players like they do at Lyons.

I can't see Rafa wearing that without more public squabbles.

If I was in their shoes, I doubt I'd see Rafa as someone who would fit within that collegiate system, and that perhaps rules him out for them.

I agree Alun and Joey. That said, if it could be worked out between them all I'd love Rafa back. But that is for me the only serious element that could prevent him getting the job. The rest of the stuff is just nonsence really.

I do believe there is a media bias against Rafa because of the way he handled the press at Liverpool.

                              Look at this for example:

Is that anything less than bile and spite?
The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions to me; the distinction is yours to draw...

Lawro got this bit right though

GAMES being called off even when pitches are playable? What’s going on?

It’s quite simple. As a fan going to a game, if you think you will fall over don’t go.
