I dont expect us to be driving on all the time but its dangerous to sit back the way we did. What's needed is to keep the ball better but we largely fell back into hoofing it high for Torres to battle for on his own.Originally posted by Rudo View Post[/B]
Wise up man, **** sake.
We got the decesive 2 goals, we had 7 shots to Chelsea's 5. We came very close to a third a few times, we could have had a penalty.
You expect us to go 2 up against by far the best team in the Country, the current Champions and we continue to drive forward, it never happens.
Can't please everyone.
Yes we could have had a third but that was when they were pushing up. They had at least 3 very good chances in the second half, whereas we only really had Kuyt's effort.
I remember us beating Chelsea under Houllier when Cheyrou scored with a very similar performance. Didnt mean Houllier's tactics were good enough. The problem with those performances is they'll win you some games against the top teams but over the course of the season, you wont get enough points to really be a contender.
Which pretty much sums up Fulham's record in recent seasons for me...
And yes, I know Im being a grumpy barsteward

I thought in the first half we had alot of posessionOriginally posted by Neil Young View PostBut I'm still uncomfortable with how little possession we had and how little we controlled the game. Then again Chelsea are a top team so I suppose it's not necessarily damning and at least we were defending much higher up the pitch.
I think the second half posession was dictated by us sitting too deep and defending too deep which was more of a reaction to a team lacking confidence and wanting to preserve a lead
I dont think it was symptomatic of tactics more of nervesJacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

You cant boss Chelsea aroiund all game. They brought Drogba on and we had to be alert. Malouda though frustrated tried to do his bit. We could have and should have got a third goal and we didn't. Not Roy's fault today.Originally posted by mick the click View PostDidn't like the way we went into our shell a bit in the 2nd half - and if Maxi had stayed on his feet rather than looking for a pen, would he have got the ball?Patience when teased often, transforms into rage

Yep, I was reminded of the Houllier era too..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I couldn't believe that. He had his moments but he had a really good game by his standards. I did however think that Skrtel was a mistake waiting to happen.Originally posted by Neil Young View Post
There wasn't a single bad performance. Even Konchesky wasn't terrible.
Does anyone think that there's a coincidence between this and Cole being out. IMO our best performances this season have been this game and the second half against Arsenal. Joe Cole injured today, and Cole sent off against Arsenal. If I had the option of Cole or Kuyt, I'd take the latter each and every time.

Hard to dominate for 90 minutes against Chelsea. They have the best squad in the country by a mile and had three strikers on the pitch at the end. Thought we totally dominated the first half and although Reina rode his luck, Cech made a incredible stop from Kuyt.
Any team that goes 2 up against Chelsea is always going to try to kill the game. It's the correct tactic. Our counter attacks should have been better though, the final ball was lacking.

agree with all of this, we are not really playing the controlling football we should, but it's looking increasingly better.
