Grey and Keys missing the point again.
    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Didn't find it cringeworthy myself. Two up against a better side, that's when defending what you've got makes sense. Without the second goal it would I've a very different story.

I thought Kelly had a good game at the back, showed some good maturity and worked well with the rest of the defence. The kid deserves a good run in the side - he's not going to develop by giving 5/10 mins here and there and a bunch of reserve games.

Torres? Good to have him back.

The next few games have now taken on an entirely different perspective. We're away to Wigan on Wednesday and then away to Stoke on Saturday. Both games are eminently winnable if we play like we did today. With such a good run going, anything less than two wins would be a major disappointment and would suck some of newly acquired confidence out of the team.

No arguments - well done Hodgson.

Got his tactics right against a superior team.

Ah come on fella. I haven't had a go at Torres once this season on this site. Privately to friends I've argued over long term effects of an injury and wondered and hoped he's not lost a yard of pace already.

But whilst his performance was excellent today you there is still a question mar over whether he has back to full fitness. And that was my only question mark -how long till he reaches full fitness ?

Great result and performance, I thought we rode our luck a little in the 2nd half although for all their possession they created very few goal scoring chances.

Great to see us press the ball and forcing errors.

3 "winnable" games coming up, lets see where that takes us.

Americans - always humble in victory.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

My slight fear is that perhaps Roy is the sort of manager able to get his tactics right against the bigger teams (Fulham in the Europa league and against the mancs) but struggles to set up right against the smaller/not quite so big teams.

Before today is worried that it was the other way round. We'll see.

My big fear is a variation on that - we play like a small team. It'll do for a while and he'll get us to a better position than he ever managed with Fulham because we've got better players but we'll never really challenge.

Counter-attacking teams don't win leagues any more.

Everyone played well and Hodgson deserves credit. I thought Lucas was excellent and is turning into a very good player.

I actually enjoyed the game and atmosphere at Anfield more than I have for a long time, feels like even the crowd is now beginning to get back to normal.

Does anyone have a link to the goals?
